Transgo 4l60E-HD2

I have 14 pages of info that would need to be scanned. Usually I'd start scanning, post them up and get a reply saying thanks but *sponsor name* already PM'ed me it.
So maybe later if no one else can do it for you I'll do it.

If have a chance later I will hook up scanner and install(new laptop) and scan them. I have often wondered why the manufactuers dont have the instruction on there website somewhere, I mean it isnt like they are particularly usefull without the kit so anyone needing then must have lost them or something but either have or have already installed the kit .

I was kinda shocked Transgo's website didn't have them to download too. I just expected to type in the model and *poof*, it would be available. If anyone needs the instructions to a TCI 700R4 kit let me know.

Someone was nice to scan and post them here several years ago:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...questions.html
The instructions are very terse. Here are detailed step-by-step instructions:
http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f13/tr...-diyer-430457/
I suggest leaving out the "Gear Command" feature - Step 5 on Page 2. Gear Command will force downshifts even if it would exceed the rev limit; IMHO not a good idea.
I also suggest getting a new Transgo Universal separator plate part #46-PLT-96.
I also suggest installing the Sonnax HD 2-3 shift valve.
Post any specific questions here.

If you want the "modified" Shift instructions that I use. Give me the email address you want them sent too. Which servos you are using for 2nd and 4th gears? Let me know what you have as far as torque converter stall and diameter? Rear end gear ratio? What estimated HP at the flywheel? Nitrous? And how you drive? Anything else that I should know here? There are other modifications that can be done when having higher horsepower or driving very aggressively. The Sonnax HD 2-3 shift valve is when you use Drive "D" shifter position to race in, or tow in. If you use Overdrive "OD" shifter position and not Drive, then this valve is not needed. The purpose of this HD 2-3 shift valve is to keep from robbing 2-3 shift oil to the applying of the overrun clutches when the shifter is in the "D" shifter position, as it does this in the stock valve body. Once this valve is installed, then you can safely use the "D" shifter position. The overrun clutches will now be on in all the first three forward shifter positions, and therefore no more robbing of the 2-3 shift apply oil, which can be detrimental to the 3-4 clutches. By the way the 700R4's never had this problem.

I'd love the modified instructions mate. My car is an 88 trans am and the engine and trans are from a 2005 Holden Commodore. Currently everything is stock except for the exhaust (3inch) and a maffless tune. The diff gears are 3.27. I believe the pistons are corvette ones in these later transmissions. I'll pm you my email address

I'd hate to post on an old thread, but figured it would be better then opening a new one. I am trying to install my transgo into my 2007 4L60E. I am stuck on step 3, LOL, the 2nd accumulator. In the instructions it does not reference the plastic piston that I had in the housing. I had a small yellow spring, then the plastic piston, then the spacer plate , then a large blue spring and then a aluminum piston that goes in the case. By the looks of the instructions it want me to put all of this inside the housing above the spacer plate??? I am going to use a 3000 stall converter so I should use the spacer washers??? I am confused as to how all this goes together..
Thanks

The yellow spring goes in the case, then the piston.
Then the seperator plate, valve body, etc.
Then the 1-2 accumulator housing that the plastic piston was in. Best to get an aluminum piston.
then set up the springs as they show with no spacer washers.

tk-mpl, your post is a confusing.
As Jay writes and shown on Page 5 of the HD2 instructions, the Yellow spring goes into the case as part of the 4th Accumulator and a piston sits on top of it. (Remember the checkball too.)
Then install the separator plate and valve body and make sure the Pressure Control Solenoid is installed into the valve body.
Then assemble the Orange, Piston and Blue springs for the 2nd Accumulator as shown on Page 1; do not use any spacer washers.
Yeah, the instructions could hardly be worse, as the order of doing things is completely wrong.

I think it was because I have a plastic piston in my 1-2 accumulator that through me off. I had the 1-2 and the 3-4 accumulator parts together and i assumed they were suppose to go together.
Should I get an aluminum piston for the 1-2 accumulator? I noticed the center hole is bigger in the 3-4 piston as it is in the 1-2 piston, so I can't use that.
Thanks

Yes, aluminum pistons are highly recommended; the plastic ones are often cracked by the time they see 100,000+ miles.
Jay: I'm just saying that since e.g. the 2nd accumulator is about the last thing installed, it should be documented on Page 5, not Page 1. Sure you know it by heart, but having helped people on this forum, by email and by phone, the instructions are very confusing and sparse to a first-timer.
