Default Bang bang 4l60e

Back story: 4L60E, TCI flexplate, Yank 3600.. Lost 3rd and 4th sold the YANK.
Newish 4L60E (got it from a member) TCI flexplate and reman stock converter. When i did the trans install i used the stock converter bolts(allenheaded). And on start up they hit the block BANG bANG bang. Shut it down pulled the bolts and put some lower profile bolts in.

Now under light load (in drive while staging) I can hear what sounds like the converter bolts hitting the block again. I pulled them out no damage to them or their heads. Under full throttle you can hear noise on take off but goes away as the power comes on. I plan to put a spacer between the coverter and flexplate in the morning and see what happens..

ANY IDEAS WOULD HELP thanks LS1tech!!!!

This is one of several threads I have seen where the TCI plate was used and the converter bolts hit the block but as yet no one has posted a final solution. As always I will be watching .

Sounds like the solution is use the stock flexplate.

FWIW I have done this and using the stock bolts you are not getting them tight against the flexplate. They tighten up but they have bottomed out in the verter. The light banging is the flexplate is actually loose and rocking on the bolts if you can picture it. They are hitting the clearance in the flexblate holes, cut them down it will fix it

LOL that was the first thing i checked..I had a Monte Carlo that did that to me a long lime ago. The bolts that are in the conveter right now are custom ones that cut down and shaved the heads just to make sure they where not to long or the heads to tall..thanks

I have never had a converter be to far out from the trans..So im not sure what kind of noise that would make. I will let you guys know if the noise is gone after the spacers are in. On the way home tonight i stopped and stalled it up... man it sounds like metal rubbing metal.. ALMOST like the coverter rubbing the bell housing. Crazy???

I haven't had a problem with my tci flex plate. I'm not even using arp bolts, just some regular 8.8 bolts from the hardware store. Strange. You do have the recess for the bolts facing the block right?

Got the car on my bros lift ..... The noise is coming from the pass side HEADER not the converter...DANG!!!!!... of course thats the side the A/C drips water on....So the header may have a lose bolt or the tubes might be touching ... Thanks for the help.. And a big thanks to my boy JOSH.
