Default stall & stock tranny...

So just looking for some information here guys.

Ive been thinking about my next mod, maybe being a stall. I know the popular favorite seems to be the 3600. So i would probably go with that, but at the same time. Im new to stalls & transmissions, so im hesitant because idk how long the stock tranny would hold with this size stall. I just cant afford for the tranny to go out on me, this is my daily driver.

In the future i wanna go with a Performabuilt trans, when i get the funds for one but for now. I would like to get some opinions and information as to how this setup would do?? What would be an "ok" estimate as to how long the stock tranny would hold?? I know, you really dont know how long it could hold but if you've had experience with this setup. How long did your's hold??

By the way, i dont race very much. Im sure that has something to do with how long the tranny will hold as well.

I've probably got 8-10k on my stock auto with the SS3600. Love it.

I'm going to have it restalled to a PT4000 as soon as I finish this cam swap, that may make it not like me very much.

I'd say as long as you don't do the 4-3 WOT shift all to often, or throw drag radials on it and dead hook it often you should be ok. Hell I don't even have TM on mine, you could leave that in for peace of mind I guess but I just said screw it.

Install a cooler.

It will depend on miles and upkeep of the stock trans. @ 100k the stock trans is usually in need of a rebuild....

I want to add a stall but I'm hesitant...I'll probably take advantage of Performabuilts layaway program

if you DD and cant afford the trans/car to be down then dont mod at all. thats the easiest solution. the more mods you do the more you have to work on your car.

QFTT....I would buy a cheap DD...because sooner or later your car will be down. Most likely sooner if you keep adding mods

I put about 15k on my stock trans with a 3400 stall and tranny cooler. Never had a problem with the trans once I had the PCM tuned for it.

yeaa im not a serious racer, so drag radials wont be going on the car anytime soon. i really dont race it much, or even run it hard for the most part. i guess its just something ill think about or just wait till i get a performabuilt trans.

3600 is probably the best dollar for dollar mod you can do. Our SRLS series billet 9.5" 3600 will reduce your et by as much as .8 tenths.Give me a call or pm and I can help.

If this is the case then why bother? Why would you want a 3600 stall on your car you are not going to race? Makes no sense to me.

just because he doesnt want to race it at a track, doesnt mean he doesnt want to have a nice street car.

You can't see a converter; it does not make the car sound good like a cam; it does nothing for the apperance or the sound of the car. He is not going to race it, so it makes no sense at all to have a huge converter.

I never said i wasnt going to race it, just that im not a serious racer who will take the car to the track alot. I go to the track from time to time but i dont always go to run the car but i do race it. Another reason is because when i actually do get a race, they always seem to want to do it from a roll.

In the end, its just going to be a nice, fun street car.

The 3600 works great from a roll.
