Default Need answer ASAFP...4L60E install

I found a 4L60E out of a 03 Silverado pretty cheap ($450). Will it work in my 98 Trans Am? If so, anything I need to do or look out for? Will the converter work? Tranny's on craigslist and local so I need to know ASAP...TIA

As long as its a 2wd it should bolt in and the eceltronics are the same.
You will need to swap the tail housing from your exsisting unt easy enough.
And since trucks do not have the corvette servo like yours you might consider swapping it out also simple enough.

Any negative affects of not swapping servos? If the TA unit is dead (free revs) could the servo be damaged?

Will the converter work? The TA is stock.

oh the tranny in the TA is gone for sure (dark fluid, metal shavings) -- someone else had it and I think overfilled and it obviously got too hot at some point. it makes noises and doesnt go. I don't drive it (its in Dallas, I'm working in FLA for a while) but i need something when I get in town and a guy needs something when his charger is down so we just want to get it running again.

dont know if id be trusting someone on craigslist. might want to find someone on here or performancetrucks.net. if you do get the truck one and have to swap bellhousings make sure you get the right torx for the bolts. otherwise it will take allot longer for the swap.

The linkage shaft will need to be swapped as well. You have a short one and the truck has a long one. Vince

i just installed a trans from an 01ish tahoe. the only difference was the shift lever. it stuck out more and i had to bend my bracket with pliers to make the shift indicater match up again. no big deal. and of course, i had to change my tailhousing.
