Switch to Yank results in three 151 MPH runs!
Chuck at FLT, Dan Bills at FLP, and Dave at Yank put their skills to work for me to solve some starting line issues resulting in a switch to a Yank 11" single disk locker set at 3600 stall. They pulled off a one week turnaround and off I went to Byron to test.
I made no changes to my setup and had gone over 150MPH only once before. The results were significant. The first run saw me spin the tires HARD and had to settle for 10.50 @ 145. After a minor tire pressure adjustment THE NEXT THREE RUNS WERE ALL AT ABOUT 151 MPH RUNNING 9.30's and 40's in 2800 DA WEATHER.
Even though the new Yank convertor is set at 3400 Stall (My old one was set at 3200) it is more efficient causing the shift points to be tighter by about 200 to 300 RPM in each gear. I'll have to go into the PCM and make some adjustments to get my shift points back. The biggest difference seems to be in 3rd gear. The new Yank seems to lock up sooner and pull really HARD in 3rd gear -- ENOUGH TO FEEL THE DIFFERENCE --!!
THANKS GUYS SO FAR THE CHANGE TO YANK SEEMS TO REALLY MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE!!!
I GUESS ONE CAN SAY THE "BARBIE VETTE" IS NOW OFFICIALLY A 150 MPH CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure to let us know how you do! Looks like the air quality is really going to suck today after all the rain we have had. Not to mention it's in the mid 80's and muggy as hell! Good luck this weekend and stay cool JR! Vince

yeah - track prep was a bit of a problem - my 60's were all in the high 1.49's when they are usually in the 1.35 to 1.45 range.
Next step with the new converter is to brake torque at the line up to 1500 (up from 1100) and see if the converter can handle less flash. My old one could NOT. The higher launch RPM will hopefully give me a TAD better 60'.
I will be at Byron on the 28th

I'll have to check your car out a little closer that day. I'll be there, car or no car, a friend is sorting out his new toy. His Mustang (fox body) went 10.90's on it's first pass with an easy launch.
