Default Is a 4400 too much stall for me?

I have the chance to get a PT4400 but I know there's a point where you get too high of a stall for your motor. I have a cam and full bolt ons. I pulled 404rwhp / 424ft/lb tq and my shift points are at 6500. I have 3.23's and will never put N2O on the car. Does the PT4400 sound too big or just right for me?

It wouldn't be too much even if you were running the stock cam. I used to run a 4600 with an internally stock engine.

Beware, that converter is going to feel REALLY loose with 3.23 gears on the street but is going to be a heckuva performer at the track!

I currently run that converter on my stock internal car, you may want to go to 3.73 gears perhaps but that is not really needed.

Thanks for the replies. What's the normal shift extension on this converter?

The SE should be about 5900.

On the first drive you'll hate it.

After the first track runs.. you'll want more

Yea man it might be a little much for the street but it will be sweet for the track, of course it all depends on what you call "driveable".

Don't get me wrong. My Formula has had a PT-4400 and or a UT-4600 almost since it was new. All along is has been daily driven (only transportation). Even with 3.23 gears and stock tuning. When you first put in a converter, your not use to how it makes the car feel. Once you gotten use to it, you'll think a car with the stock converter feels sick.

Tuning and 3.73's help make it even more streetable, but they are not 'musts' IMO, unless you start having TM issues.

Well when I got my 3500 stall, I was used to it by the time I got to the end of my street. And most of the mods that people said I will hate, I've not minded at all. I guess it all depends on your tolerance

I have tuning already but I think I'm going to stick w/ the 3.23's so I can attempt to hook on the street. I might consider lowering my lockup point, even though I raised it earlier due to cam surge. And I might try to make my exhaust quieter somehow
