so in normal driving it will stay around 3000 or whatever the stall is? so when you punch it do you still have the small pause like the stock converter or is it jumping right out?

The delay is mostly from the downshift. Mine will jump to ~4500 rpm and it will start moving then, but the downshift gets it going a little faster.

At a speed that is just barely too high for a downshift, its a lot faster than stock but it stills doesn't feel as good as when it does downshift.

Same here, my converter stays at one spot throughout the shifts and part throttle/put speed..

It shifts when it needs to.. At WOT it jumps up to the stall speed (or a little higher) and starts to pull.. No matter what though with a decent converter there is no "dead spot" with a stalled a4 like stock.

I've owned three 6 speeds, and dont get me wrong they're great cars, ofcourse.. they're F-bodys! but, everyone ive owned gave me nothing but grief and very inconsistant at the track. So, I went to an auto and its been great to me. Very consistant at the track, snaps when it shifts and, is the fastest (for the mods) that ive had. I hear alot of people say there inferior to the 6 speed(trap speed, and et) but, with the little mods I have I trap the same if not better than 6 speeds.

So, my question is... Why do they hate sooooooooooooooo much?!?!?!
Sorry for the rant but I have to get this in the open!!

It is simple. 98% of people have no idea what a torque converter is and how it works

When someone hates, i just laugh to myself and continue on

Apparently, it does the same thing as a 2-step.

They dump money left and right trying to get their cars to be consistent/quick and they know if I hook thats their ***. Equally modded of course, me with a converter.
People that don't like A4's will likely say the same thing about any sports/muscle car with an automatic transmission. I can see why anyone that's primarily into racing would want an automatic (ex. consistency). I will agree that anyone who doesn't understand the merits of an A4 in some situations is likely uninformed.

However, I don't see the fun/excitement of driving an automatic performance car on the street. In stock form (what the average person experiences), the A4 is far from responsive and yields a boring driving experience. To me...the fun of driving a domestic V-8 car comes from rowing through the gears. That's just my $.02, but it's likely the opinion of many people who don't like the A4.

Makes me laugh when someone says "Why would you want a sports car with an a4?" I kinda laugh and say, "I don't, thats why I bought a muscle car with an auto."

Annoying... For some reason fbodys are classified as "sports" cars instead of "muscle" cars to a lot of people..
I guess its cause it wasn't made in the 60s/70s/80s.. Even though the ls1 had more muscle than any of them..

no the trans will still shift at the same mph just like a stock converter/trans. You just dont feel or hear the shifts as much. A higher stall cushions the shifts. Its still shifting just like it normally would. The rpms just stay higher since its more "loose."

here is another one of my car. 2800 FTI 9.5 converter. Driving normal

This is a reason some people install a shift kit so its more stock feeling and you "feel" the shift.

Have you driven an LS1 F-body with a 3500+ TC? Boring is FAR from how I would describe it.

I may have to record some PT4000 videos this weekend...

Hey Chad, long time no talk! So u went 11s huh! I only hit 12.33, but I'm gonna go back. Ended up undoing all that work your buddies did putting that stall in for me, cause I bought an flt lvl 4 trans. I wanted to hit 11s but I guess being a heavy *** vert took it's toll on my ets. Any way, sorry to high Jack, A4 FTW!

A friend of mine owned 2 z28's with a4's in them.He decided he wanted to get a m6 because of what some that have responded here said about the fun factor.
He had it for a month. He went through 3 clutches and a diff.He sold it and went back to a a4 with a 4k yank and never looked back.
Funny thing is no one would race from a dig. From a roll they all wanted to go from a 50 also.
This is why I'm buying an a4!

Mine chirps the tyres as it changes gear with a Circle d 4c and a built trans, but its a much better feeling as it changes gear compared to a stock set up.
