Yank SS3800-seems weak!!!!!!
I purchased a Yank SS3800, and my launch feels weaker than my buddies 2800 Vig.in his SS Conv. His 60' time in his car is a 1.7 on a stock internal motor, NA. My best 60' is a 1.68 with 100 Shot out of the hole. I also run E.T. Streets. What is up??? Should I be getting more? My buddy drove my car, ans said it felt "soft" compared to his. BTW, 3:73 gears.
Def. sounds like your not getting traction, try a run not spraying out of the hole and see what your 60 time is. With that converter and et streets you should be able to pull off atleast a 1.6 if not better. Good Luck man

Yep, you're spinnin'. That converter/gear combo can pull 1.5s NA with traction. Get some real slicks and try it NA. Be sure to set the pressures low enough to hook (as low as 10 PSI) and make sure your burnout is a good one (have someone watch it from a vantage point where both slicks are visable.)
The burnout is not a problem. I have to be ran off to stop my burnouts. People tell me that it doesnt appear that I am spinning. I ran a Z06 for a while, and pulled a lot of 1.6 sixties on E.T. Streets. I am running about 13 PSI, but I must say I am fearful of running less, because of the back of the track "walk". Would worn out rear shocks affect this??

I always thought my SS3800 was weak on launches compared to my Vig2800 & 3600! I never pulled better than a 1.7 on my Nittos and E/T Streets (two runs). I've since switched to a PT4000 and as long as a do a good burnout I cna pull 1.5's. I need more suspension mods to do better than that though.
Compared to a Vig 3600 it should be weak since the Vig 3600 is actually a 4300. But I'd take the SS3800 over the Vig 2800 any day.
Keep watching what my car runs over the next few months with the SS4000 to get an idea of what the SS converters can do. Last time out I only 60 fted in the high 1.6s but that was babying it out of the hole and fighting some major traction problems (4 year old ET Streets and a so-so track.)
Like I said before, an SS3800 and 3.73s should be 1.5s all day long with some practice (gotta find that perfect launch RPM) and plenty of traction. I plan to pull mid 1.5s with this SS4000 and 3.23 gears.

I guess for almost $1000.00, I was expecting a harder "clutch" launch. Don't get me wrong, I just think that if the stall is suppossed to be one of the best on the market, then on the spray it should really hit hard. I was thinking that I should out launch that 2800 Vig really, really hard. What about the rear shock question? I think my rear shocks may be a little spongy. After a run I can hear them clunking around. I know that I need to learn to launch with this auto, I just thought I should stall it as high as I could, and NAIL IT. Any suggestions on rear suspension mod steps? I am still trying to baby this rearend.
I HAD an SS3600 on my Vette and with 18" BFG DR's I pulled a 1.65 60' and I never had it long enough to really practice. The SS3800 should do better than that.
I NOW have a Yank SS4000 and haven't been to the track yet. It is a bit looser than the SS3600 but we will see how it performs soon.

etperformance, no offense intended, but NO amount of money or converter is going to make up for your lack of traction. In fact, a hard hitting converter is just going to make it worse. Forget the nitrous for now until you can get your launch down NA first. Slap on a brand new set of slicks and practice at a good hooking track (there is no overcoming a bad track.) Add a set of LCA relocators, remove the front swaybar, take some weight off the front, add some weight to the rear...anything you have to do to hook. When that converter DEAD hooks you'll know it because the front tires will be hovering off the ground.
And yes, worn out shocks are no good.
I'm pulling consistant 1.55s with my SS4000 and 3.23 gears. Your converter is almost identical to mine. 200 RPM of stall is not much. Your gearing advantage would easily make up for that.
