My SS3600 Converter Experience
After having the converter in my 98 T/A for a few weeks, and also making a pass at the strip, I just wanted to chime in a share my experience.
This is one of the most impressive and noticeable modifications I've made to any of my cars. Big shout out to Yank for making an awesome product.
The car is a 98 T/A with lid and catback. It has the stock 2.73 gears, LS1 intake and shitty exhaust manifolds. I'm running a set of 245 Nitto drag radials out back. Before the converter I ran a 13.62 @103 mph with 2.12 60 ft, and post-converter ran a 13.20@ 104 mph with 1.92 60 ft.
I'm still on the stock, 104,000-mile rear suspension so I'm guessing the shock of an aggressive launch is making the rear suspension go WTF, hence the weak 60 ft times considering it dead hooked at the track; gears probably don't help, either. I've got some LCA and relocation brackets ready to go on, and will be ordering some shocks soon, too. Would like to see 12s with a proper 60 ft.
Driving daily is noticeably different. It requires a lot more throttle to get going. I noticed the changes but my passengers rarely could tell the difference. I'm happy I ditched the loudmouth exhaust in favor of a Magnaflow catback because the converter keeps the revs high even in daily driving. The converter keeps the engine almost always in, or near, the powerband.
Anyway, just wanted to put my experience in writing for prospective converter buyers.
This pic was before the converter. I wouldn't be surprised if I dragged the exhaust tips with the new converter

I can't wait to take my SS3600 to the track. I had a TCISSF3500 and ran a 12.591 @ 112 on a 1.778 60' about a year and a half ago. But, that trans imploded (122k miles and stock) and swapped it out for another stock trans (69k miles, lets hope it lasts 20k like the other did after a stall) and put the SS3600 in it. It feels much tighter than the TCI around town since it is my DD, the 2.73s do keep it looser than I want though. My only major mod is a Torquer 2 cam with all the supporting bolt ons.
We also just had a 3600Vig put in this weekend on my gf's '00 T/A. We just got the tuned adjusted and it does pretty good daily driving. It's loud as **** because the revs are always around 2500-3000 till it locks. Her car has LTs, high flow cats and a borla bullet. It's pretty loud. It is like a whole new car though it will go sideways merging onto the highway lol. Never thought an automatic could be this much fun. We have a 3.42 rear in the car now so that helps getting off the line without as much throttle.
We ran a best of 12.9 at 108 with it before the converter. Will probably be taking it back this friday to get some after results.

Add me to the recent SS3600 install crowd. I just can't say enough about this mod. I'm very happy that I chose to do this and I'm very pleased with Dave's willingness to spend time helping me choose the right product.
