Default 6 speed auto Swap

Has anyone done or heard of anyone swapping a 6 speed auto into a 4 Speed F-body?

I know a PCM change would have to be made too. But I just think it would be sweet to have tap shift and quite unique.

Can't be done easily. There is no standalone system for the 6l80/90's yet. And the Gen III PCM won't work with the 6l80/90 TCM. A Gen IV ECM will work but you need a 58x reluctor wheel for it to work as well as rewire.. So basically you need a Gen IV engine LS2/LS3/L92 etc...

I would say 600+hp. But anything will break. I have not seen anyone running a 6l80 with much more that. The LSA 6.2L in the CTS-v uses the 6l90.

But I doubt you'll have any problems.

I am quite sure tci has f body kit out with paddle shifting and control . Think it was rated 650 or 700. I was looking hard at it but figure have already 750hp and going to be putting likely another 250 thru the car maybe more so went to fully built 4l80 instead. Those six speeds are neat for sure though.

The TCI unit is just a "4l80" that they modded to a six speed and is NOT a GM 6l80/90.

This might answer some of your questions:

Not sure which F Body you are thinking of, but the link goes to our 68 Camaro project.

And yes it is very unique even after a year on the road. Tap shift and all.

Enjoy.
