Default 04 CTS..downshifting HARD!

Alright like the title says it's down shifting really hard and it only does it from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st when your breaking. It doesnt do it when you go WOT and it kicks down and when your crusing around town at 20 or so it will down shift and jerk real hard. I need some help guys, anyones advice would be great. Didn't know if anyone else has had this problem or not.

I had the same problem with my 04 cts.It started the second day after I purchased it new.It was replaced by GM but has never worked the way it should.I tried the lemon law but GM said no,they did extend coverge to 100,000 miles. They have replaced the transmisson, both front hubs, radio and the complete rear axle. Now the rear is on its way out and will have to be replaced soon as I am at 73,000.

Ya I'm at 94,XXX now. The car was a gift from my mother in law. She said it's been doing this for the past couple of years but not this bad. What did GM say was wrong with your car? It's really making me mad. I think it has something to do with the valve body or filter's clogged and messing up the valving in the valve body

I didn't know the 3.6L CTS was a topic of discussion on LS1tech... try cadillacowners.com if you haven't already. There is a local cadi tech on there ("Ewill3rd" of Lindsay Cadillac) might be able to diagnose it or point you in the right direction; send him a PM.

Good luck.

Ya you have to have an ISP email to join, and I don't have that, which is pretty stupid.
