Default how to figure out that year my 4l80e is?

Ok i bought a 4l80e a few months back.. i dont know what year the trans is im want to order a shift kit for this trans and possibly a rebuilt kit...

can any one give me any ideas on how to tell what year it is?
its not a original trans is the hard part but it is a Gm rebuilt trans.. i do know it has the newer harness on top the pan rail..

any help would be great.

year is stamped in the yellow metal tag.
Also the 4 letters/numbers on the white barcode sticker can tell you what it came out of.

If you go with a transgo shift kit it will service all years and their replacement separator plates will do the same. The advise above is spot on for figuring out the year. Vince

some of the GM rebuilds, they rem the tag, but if its still there, 2 of the #'s will be the year-like 95, 1995, 00, 2000, etc-other ways is where the return
cooling line is, up front or further back, 12 0 clock bellhousing bolt hole
most of the GM ones had some upgrades-if you pull the pan, i think the force motor has a diff plug, and also the trans temp sensor was moved into the wiring harness from the v/b on later years and upgrades

here are some pictures of it may help determine the year.. i can flip it over and pull the pan off if need be..

that's not a 2000 case.
Probably means it was rebuilt in 2000.

Impossible to know what internals went in to it in 2000.
It could have all 2000 internals which are good or it could have 96 internals with just new clutches or it could have even older stuff.
Pull the pan and take a pic and maybe then you'll have to pull the pump and start seeing what's in it if you really want to know.
Could be a mix/match of anything.

well the filter is blocking it but it looks like the later 5 connector harness.
And I can't see the main plug straight on but it looks like the later of the 2 five connector types.
The steel line running across is not a 2000 style though.
