Default well built 4l60e finally went out at 766rwtq....

just thought i would let yall know! put car on the dyno today and first pull was 451rwhp 577rwtq... let it cool down and went for round 2 ball to wall and min i put it to floor went though 2nd and hit third just to fall on its face and lost the gear. when 3rd gear went out we went to look at the dyno number and to my amazement it put down 531rwhp and 766rwtq before it hit 3rd! well i am kinda upset my car is down now and dont have time to fix it cause i am back in school full time and A/B average is more important! so just to let all yall out ther know 500+ rwtq will kill built 4l60e's.... but hey put down great number so i am not complaining! was worth it to know numbers... got to love nitrous

Sorry to hear about your trans. Who built your transmission? I just had to replace mine last month. FLT did mine. Hope it holds up. That was a lot of torque..

FLT has a sale going on right now. Take a look.

Making A's is much more important. Good luck with school.

i never like shifting an auto trans on a dyno, i just pull the connector off the trans. That way you know you have full line pressure, you can pull the shifter down to 2nd, shift to third and be guaranteed that it wont down shift when you start the pull.

Where you doing simulated 1/4 mile runs or trying to do a straight pull?

if you do the 4L80 you can get away without having to tune it, no need for a full manual valve body and etc. The only thing you need is a new crossmember and if you want a new converter then there are sponsors that can make them bolt straight up at no extra cost. I just put a 4L80 with a yank converter in my car and so far it is holding up. You can find a core for $200 and up I paid $215 for mine just hunt around while you're in school. And when you do the rebuild step it up with Alto red clutches and a trans go HD stage 2 and you will be able to handle some serious power.

Go 4l80e. Just wait till you start doing all those clutches. I am running my 80 an a 60 file and it drives like a 60 but takes the abuse of a 80.
