I'm gonna be having my 4l60e rebuilt soon. I need it to hold up to about 450/450 n/a plus a 150 shot. Won't be ran at the track often. Maybe once every two months. But hoping for some street encounters.

Do you have a list of upgraded parts you can recommend?

-Wide rear sungear bushing
-wide rear stator support bushing
-Beast sunshell
-borgwarner dual cage spray
-Sonnax HD sleeve kit for the input drum
-Billet forward piston to go with the sleeve kit^^^
-Gasket and seal kit
-Standard width carbonite 2-4 band
-Corvette servo for any stall smaller then 3600 and diameter bigger then 9.5in.
-Billet 2nd gear servo for high stall 3600+ 9.5 in.

^^^Reason is because the billet servo hits hard, with a large diameter stall (low stall speed) this only makes the servo hit harder and in turn breaks output/input, and sprags.

-For trucks/towing/ or WOT 4th gear pulls get the billet 4th servo, if you do not run your car in OD then its not needed. Very good idea for a heavy truck

-I like the 3-4 Zpack, or the 8 set alto and kolene steels work great.
-sonnax .490 boost valve
-Sonnax HD2-3 shift valve, allows sprag support when you race in D position vs OD
-TCC code 1870 fix valve to feed the converter clutch full pressure( a must on any rebuild)
-High rpm pump slide spring for shift points above 5,800rpms.
- drill 2nd and 3rd gear feed hole to .093 with new transgo separator plate.

-5 pinion planetaries are good only if they are OEM, aftermarket planetaries are weak. Same thing goes for aftermarket reaction shafts..seen those break,,stay OEM here.

This is usually the build I do for local people who have 400-450 rwhp in a Car...

For trucks or anything over 500rwhp The billet input and output shafts are a good idea.

Always remember driving habits play a big toll on transmissions.

WHEEL HOP will kill internal parts fast, so make sure your sus. is dialed in.
Slicks had a softer sidewall and can reduce shock vs drag radial.

Trucks-- 4.56's vs 3.73s will help with heat and stress of hard parts. Plus you can set up a slightly softer 1-2 shift to prolong parts as well.

Cars-- with 26in tire, I like 3.73's always works well

Remember big killers are....wheel hop, heat, hard shifts, pumping the gas while in gear......all driving habits can make a big difference

If you have over 600rwhp you may want to consider a 4l80e

silverz28camaro,

I would like to know more about your home made trans tools. I'm picturing in my head how to build a compressor using threaded rod, washers, nuts and some bar stock. I suppose I could measure and rig it up as I go.

What kind of snap ring pliers do you use? I got the input drum out, but cannot go any further into the trans because my snap ring pliers won't fit to remove the next snap ring.

Thanks

Anybody have good experiences with online parts stores for their 4l60e aftermarket parts?

Thanks,

I have a 4l60e transmission that has the same seal around the pump as yours... do you know what the part number is or where I can get a new one? I have a 2002 trailblazer that the previous owner had the transmission replaced in it, and its a newer model transmission with this seal, and I cant go by my year model trailblazer, so I cant find this seal anywhere, the dealership gave me part number 24226315 but its just a rubber wedge type seal, no metal... My transmission is leaking from this seal, so if you know anything about where I can get one, or how the rubber seal installs, please help.. email me at chrisbarker4813@yahoo.com, thanks.

http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/cat...tock_check.php

Look up the part with this site^^ Has nice pictures and 'whats it fit feature".

Info from this Delco site on front pump to case seal
2003 - 2013 = 24226315 metal reinforced
1982 - 2009 = 24210605 old floppy seal

Alot of overlap in model years, so depends on the actual model. I think they gave you the right PN, but the wrong part.
... or the site is possibly wrong.
