I just recently bought a 2001 Trans-Am with the automatic new here but im guessing its the 4l60e trans.. Anyways i just took it for its first real test run and i was cruising at 50-60mph and it never downshifted the tach stayed around 3000rpm and it only dropped down when i let off the gas..
All help is welcome like i said im new to these but i gotta fix this its gunna eat gas bad this way.. all i can figure is maybe something in the programming?

Oh it pulls hard from a stop breaks traction with the traction control on real easy and like i said i have no idea what is and isn't modified as i just bought the car but under the hood looks very stock has the original air box only thing i know is that it might have a flowmaster on it or some other performance muffler, it even still has the stock rectangle exhaust tips on it stock exhaust manifolds... when i was driving it at 55mph and it was at 3k+/- rpm i put it from OD into 3rd and it seemed to rev higher.... and lastly the only stupid question is the question left unasked... come on im used to carbs and TH350's all this computer stuff is new to me seems like it controls everything!
Im almost 100% sure its the stock trans that came in the car, how can i confirm this?

I'm having the same problem. My builder told me it has to do with the 3-4 servo not engaging into 4th. It's getting stuck in third. They sent me a new washer to replace the one getting stuck in the servo. I'm gonna put it the new washer tomorrow and let you know if that worked. I'm still learning the in's and out's about these transmisions as well.
