Need help on a stall install.

Unhappy Need help on a stall install.

My buddy has a 4L60e A4 with a 3200 tci stall. The tranny and everything was fine before he started with the new "Pro Torque pro drive Stall 4000".

After installing the stall and putting everything back together, He tryed to put in reverse, and nothing happened. Not 1,2,3,Drive, or anything. It made no sound or anything.

Is there something that we are missing?

please help


The car is 2001 Trans Am.

did you hook the linkage back up? im sure you did but i may as well throw it out there.

If the linkage is connected correctly, did you make sure the converter was seated fully on the input shaft? It sounds like a dumb question but it happens a lot, my buddy did it on his truck.

He will be pulling the tranny again tomorrow. The linkage was connected but, as far as it being seated fully has been a thought of ours as well. But if it wasn't seated wouldn't it make some sound?

Its hard to say, I never heard it. I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable guys might post up on this.

sounds like you smashed the pump by not lining the verter to it right... The car wont do anything

Another thing and I know this is late in the post and might make a big different is the stall was used before.

He bought this stall from Craigslist. Is there anyway we can have the stall tested to make sure there is nothing wrong with this stall?

Im pretty certain you guys smashed the pump tabs.. So, the verter is just spinning on the shaft. Either that or you didnt put the veter bolts into the flywheel, which you guys im sure did that.

Had no extra bolts.

If we smashed the tabs like you think. Would it still feel like it was all the way in?

yea.. its pretty tricky for a 1st timer. When you have the tranny on the dowel pins and butted up, there should be a fingers gap between the verter and the flywheel. What happens is you think you have it on, then tighten the housing to the block and thats what smash's the tabs then you put the verter bolts in and its too late.

We did the exact same thing on a buddys car.

The stalls fine.. its the transmission pump that will need to be replaced.

the converter will have three clicks. each time it clicks it falls in a little deeper into the trans. thats how you know the converter is fully seated. and if it wasn't fully seated, the pump will most likely be destroyed right as the car is turned on.

If the pump is bad how much does a new one cost?

no problem.. the guy above said to count the clicks.. sometimes thats easier said the done sometimes. If you can butt the trans to the block while sitting in the dowel pins and you can freely spin the verter then its on right.
