Default Is this normal?

Well i put the stall in about a month ago and been so happy with it since then. I do have a question though. Sometimes when i am coming to a stop or reversing the car acts like it wants to die. Is this normal, i kinda figured it is as the stall kinda acts as a clutch. Sometimes the idle surges a little too. I might need to get TM deleted. That might help right? Thanks

The aftermarket converters are smaller diameter and 15-20lb
less mass. The engine has less "flywheel" angular momentum,
as well as less low-RPM drag, and falls down in RPM faster
than the IAC loop can keep up. My TCI SF brought this on,
it's pretty typical. GM programming just wasn't done with the
aftermarket converter in mind. You can tune to make it go
away, by making the idle less "twitchy" and running more
IAC air - richer idle, less spark, etc. There's a discussion
running in the PCM section right now about this very thing.

I would reset the pcm and let it relearn your converter again. Most of the time that stuf goes away after a few 100 miles. Surging when the converter is locked is normal. As for TQ management it will only effect shifts. 01 and 02 cars have the most problems.

I had the same problem with my TCI SSF 3500. When I did my cam and drilled the TB it helped a lot. I am still not tuned either.

Could you post a link to that thread? I was looking in the PCM section and did a search, but for some reason I can't find it

Thanks,

My car has done the same thing ever since my Midwest 3400 2.0 TC was installed. It's died on me a total of 3 times since i've had it and it that has only happened when i'm parking. It does the same thing as you described, it does it when you shift gears while idle too. Jimmyblue's explanation of it is correct or makes a hell of a lot of sense to why it would do it.
