Is a 4000 Stall To Much For A Stock LS1/LS6?
I was wondering, would a 4000 Stall Converter be to much stall for a stock cam LS1/LS6?
I have seen people say it's perfect for stock. It will have a higher ET than a 3600 would on a stock motor. It will get it too high in the powerband.
What is really true?

a 4K stall will run just fine with a stock car. it will give you room to grow if you ever add cam/heads. i don't think i would spend the money unless you are going to get some drag radials. my car is only running high 11's and it gets to a point where it doesn't even really feel safe with out drag radials.

I have a yank 4k stall in my Z28 with a stock LS1 . It is fine as a DD .I am very happy with it . Knocked a lot of time off of my ET . Over 6 tenths in hot & humid weather .If I wasn't planning on doing a cam someday ,I probably would of went with a 3600 stall. The 3600 has a little less shift extension and is probably makes the stock LS1 cam a little more usable . IMO
Very true !! W/o drag radials ,it will just be a cool burnout machine . Even with drag radials you can spin pretty easy when theyre not hot .

I've had both a 3600 and a 4000 stall. Based off my experience I would recommend the 3600 to you unless a heads/cam package is in its near future. I miss my 3600, it definitely was more comfortable and fun on the street. If my exhaust was quieter the 4000 would be better but it is still a little too loose for my taste.
Soon I'm gonna put a stall in my Dad's GTO and I think I'm gonna go with a 3600 since it's a DD and has stock internals.

I guess the biggest thing you gotta ask yourself is what your personal preference is.
I drove a STOCKish T/A NON WS.6 and beleive me it handles a lot different then my car that has SFC's, LCA's, 4.10's Spool like differential, Skinnies, and a Welded in rear sway bar. and deleted front sway.
I have grown used to it and actually prefer it now.

Never said it would not move lol. With the 3600 stall I have I don't like the 4th gear and 40 speed feeling it has. It feels like it shifts way to early and feels like a standard that is in to high of a gear.
Tunning has helped a lot but I find myself manually shifting most of the time now.
Maybe you guys could post your shift points and stuff eh?
