Which tranny to get?

My 4L60E has decided not to shift into second. Tranny guy thinks it's a band and wants like $500 to fix it. So I figured I should just buy a new stronger one and not worry about it anymore. What tranny should I use? I've heard about FLP, Yank and a little about LS1Speed's, but I'm still not sure. If anyone has one of these let me know what you think of it. Thanks.

I would take an FLP over any other unit. Part of that is also because I live just 45 miles away from them so it's close to home.
I love their Level IV. Best trans I've ever had.
Perfect shifts, fast and firm. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a 4L60E.

I've had no direct experience, but I've done a lot of reading on this board, and if it were me, I'd be looking at FLP level IV. It'll cost you a lot more than $500, but from what everybody says, you'll love your trans. Almost makes me wish mine was broke.

You're right. My car will probably never see an 8 sec. pass, unless I win the lottery or something.
My mods are just your normal bolt-ons, lid, ported TB, LT's, and a YPT4000 and 4:10 gears. And I have to have an overdrive because this is my daily driver too. And a three speed with 4:10 gears would not go so well on highway trips. I was looking at the FLP pretty seriously, but the yank sportsman didn't seem too bad either. It said it held up to 600 ftlbs. But it seems not many people have these. If anyone knows anything about them let me know. My car is still drivable, so I have some time. Thanks.

Oh, yea I forgot to add. The 12.86 @ 109 run was before LT's, PT4000, 4:10's and a Chris R. tune. Just so you don't thing my car's a turd. But anyway, I plan on putting in a cam and maybe some spray late this racing season and I noticed Ed LS1 Vert was running 11.7's and his is going out. Is the FLP gonna hold up for me? Thanks for any help.

No tranny is going to last forever behind the HP and treatment our cars see.
IMO, go with a good built tranny and if you race/beat on it alot, expect to replace the clutches every ~2 years.
As far as the Lingenfelter car.. what worked in that car, and for how long, has little bearing on a car that is driven everyday. Yank, Speed Inc, FLP, Racing Transmissions, and even Rossler can build you a strong 4L60E.. but none are indestructable.

There are a few local guys that have been using the FLP Level IV in cam + bolt-on A4s for well past 20K miles of spirited driving plus a few trips to the track.
I would/do expect to get a long life out of a Level IV with just a cam & bolt-ons, so long as you take proper car of the trans.
With the mods in my sig, I expect 50K+ miles out of mine, and I'm not an easy driver either (though my car sees very little track time).
Add N2O, and it's a whole new story though. Depending on how much, and how often, you could find yourself replacing clutches every season.
