okay guys i need input here. my trans is done, as far as reverse goes so i can get a th350 for really cheap and i mean like $50 same with a 700r4 but i cant get a 94 4l60e for any less than $600 and a t56 for no less than 1200.
so has anyone installed a 700r4 or th350 in a 94 car?
i know i need a way to set up a TV cable and figure out lock up. so theres so many variable im not sure my easiest/best option

pretty good when you pull it from a wrecked car at pull a part. 700r4s are a dime a dozen 4l60e's are not, unless i can make a 4l60e from a van or truck work i cant get one at pull a part...any tranny is $50 but they never get v8 camaros

The first 700 I ever built came from a junkyard, $125 and it didn't work so I rebuilt it.
Every one after that I just picked out of the core pile for $40 and did a rebuild before installing.
So how do you know the trans you get works? I know the yard I go to runs some vehicles and say it yard drives, Which means basically 1st works.
If you get a 700 with ??? amount of life left in it you're looking at a rebuild or another $50 700. You could fix your 4L60E for about the same as a 700.

i was reading up and if i can find a 2wd 94, 95 or 96 from a van or truck i should be able to use it in my car.i just want to get the car going so its drivable. so from what ive read if i swap the internal wireharness a 95 will work and for a 96 same thing and switch tail shafts. i might find one in a truck or a van and i think the 4.3l one is supposed to fit?
heres where i found my info

If you're on a tight budget you could take it apart and see what it needs.
I've reused steels a lot, as long as they're not burned.
For parts check out the sponsors here, or call Dana at pro built, bulkpart.com, transmissionpartsusa.com.
The converter needs to be cut open and cleaned, I used to have this done by a local converter shop for $65 to $125. Can't really flush it because of the clutch, it needs to be checked for wear.

what items do i need to look at most closely? sun shell i know. any stuff i should upgrade that wont come with the rebuild kit? im excited to do this because it valuable experience that helps with jobs. tech jobs are hard to get right now. i wanna be done with the tranny and be able to beat on the car without worrys. its a low miles lt1 (105k) and it will probably become my daily driver.

i just scored a rebuilt 93 4l60/700r4 took it all apart everything is in great shape and it was easier than i thought. anyone know how to tell if it has the beast sunshell? i dont know if i need to press out the low reverse piston or not if im pretty sure my low/reverse clutches are just burned up, i have a feeling something else might be bad by judging the metal on my speedo pick up. im basing my rebuild off of this write up, alldata a 700r4 atsg video and a manual for the 4l60e

Thats a sun gear, this is the sunshell from your link.
I'd guarantee it doesn't have a beast sunshell in it.
This is a beast sunshell.
This is a broken stock one, where the arrow points is broken in this pic, but normally it's a 90 degree angle, the beast sunshell has more material there and is not machined to 90 degrees there.
The metal on the speedo pick up could have come from a bearing or, a planetary bearing/thrust washer, a thrust washer in the trans. Careful inspection might find the source.

The band really doesn't look too bad, pretty sure that red material is not stock.
It's really not worth keeping considering you can get a new one for $15 to maybe $40.
Borg Warner Hi-energy is good. The cheaper ones are relined and the better ones have thicker mounting lugs.
Thats sunshell is stock.
You could reuse both of those parts if you're not putting down a lot of power.
