Default Temp gauge install best place for sending unit

Hi all, I'm getting ready for my build this winter and one of the things I'm going to do is install a trans temp gauge. I know there has been debate about the place to install the sending unit, but I'm trying to figure out where the best place for me. Some go off of the pressure port and just keep in mind that the reading is 10degrees off and others install in the trans pan. What about T'ing off of the feed line to the trans cooler? Anyone do that with success?

I'm getting a level 5 trans from FLT(met Chuck and Vince yesterday) and probably a circle d converter for a front mount turbo setup I'm doing over the winter.

I am running my sensor tapped into the outbound cooling line. My research showed at most a ~5 degree variance from the tranny pan.

With my B&M cooler plumbed in series after the radiator, and my derale tranny pan, she barely ever goes over 150 degrees. I've seen 180 degrees ONCE in four years.

Did you tap into the hard metal line or up front in the tubing heading into the radiator? trans->t'ed off trans gauge->radiator->trans cooler->back to trans.

Any pics or a write up of how you did this. I'm all ears (errr, I mean eyes)

we used ATM-2286, tapped into the line as close to the tranny as we could get IIRC.

"T" goes to trans, come out from radiator and sending uint to gauge.

Are you saying install the block on the trans itself or further up in the engine bay where the metal lines end before being routed into the trans cooler/radiator?

Also, I noticed that the sending unit port on the block is 1/2inch, but the sealing nut looks smaller. Does anyone know if the adapters(1/8, 1/4, 3/8 inch) that come with the AEM temp gauges will fit?
