Stall Problem?
Alright guys, I have a FTI 3400-3600 stall, I think. My problem is that my car has some of the worst shift points. 1st gear is 10 mph and when it goes in it freaking thumps. I know this cant be right. Also, I know by seeing videos of other stalled cars you have to get on the gas before it moving, not mine. Mine drives like stock. Is that the way the shop had it made? A lot of time, when driving down the road you really have to play with the gas to get it to shift into overdrive. Can anyone give me a little help with my problems. Can they be solved by a dyno tune? or do I have to get another converter?

How did you get this converter?
Curious as to why you say 'you think', it sounds like you bought it used or something?
I have an FTI and it drives exactly like I told them I wanted it to drive.
It might be tighter or looser than the videos you've watched, it all depends on how it was ordered. I've had other custom built converters but Greg from FTI got this one exactly the way I wanted it first try.
If you only swapped the converter you shouldn't have big problems with shift points.
It could always use some fine tuning, but everything should work the same as before, just at a higher rpm.
That is unless you made a bunch of changes at once, it might run weird until it's tuned.

Okay, I had my whole car built by a shop. New Block, Heads, Cam, the works. I also got a beefed up tranny. I ordered a 4000 stall but now they are saying 3400-3600 stall. I called FTI and they said the only way to identify it would to get a serial #. So this is why Im asking cause I just cant afford for a new converter or have the time to pull the tranny to find out what it is.

Has it been tuned since all the work?
If not then thats the problem. Especially if you went from 2.73's to 3.73's, it's going to shift early. Whoever tunes it should scale the shift table to the new gearing and fine tune from there. The 2.73 cars also had a different force motor current table that will make the shifts a little on the firm side.
