Cracked Flexplate?

Cracked Flexplate? What can cause a flexplate to crack like this??
As far as I know, the transmission was never separated from the engine since it was built. ~90k miles.

Acceleration and Deceleration, heat, cold-Basically wear in a hi-po stock flexplate app. stock flexplates are notorious for this in fbodys. If your trans to engine bolts were tight and the motor and trans mounts were good, then just chalk it up to a tired flexplate. Replace it with an SFI certified one for a few bucks more and always use new hardware on the install.

While the trannys out now would be a good time to replace the oil pressure sender, on the back of the motor if it's an LS.

GM changed flexplate design sometime after the 98s',the flexplates prone to have problems have 'peanut shaped' holes,the flexplates that are NOT prone to have problems have round holes.
