Default transmission cooler beneficial...?

the only mods i have done to the car are in my sig. now my question is would me getting a transmission cooler be beneficial to me. i will be getting the transmission built once i income tax season comes around the only thing i am really trying to do here is make it last until then. i've been to the track once and made 2 passes and if i happen to run ppl on the streets its maybe once or twice.

so would this help or just be a waste of money?

Not a waste of money. The cooler you can keep your transmission, the better. Also, you will need one later if you have an A4 and decide to put a converter in it.

Just my .02 cents

15 minutes. Phillips head screwdriver.

Do not mount it up against the condensor or radiator (if you removed your condensor). Mount it a few inches away from it. This way the hot air coming off of it doesn't cause a hot spot on the condensor the size of your tranny cooler.
And like said above.....remove that ridiculous stock cooler in the radiator...or leave it in and cap off the two ports. It does not cool the tranny fluid.

Like this.

I know how to cap off that cooler in the radiator, but how do you remove it? I wouldn't mind getting mine out of there.

If you're going to get a higher stall converter with the new build up then I would get a trans cooler. A converter that slips more creates more heat that must be dissipated by the oil cooling system.

Good idea. I capped mine ports off about 4 years ago, then about 2 years later the sumbitch started to leak at the bottom tranny port. The damn rubber gasket inside started to fall apart from when my piece of crap factory power steering cooler let a bunch of fluid in about 1 yr prior. Once fluid gets in there, no matter how good you flush it, those gaskets will fail later on and leak.

Anyway....pull the radiator, go to a radiator shop and have them pull that tank off. Tell them to pull the tranny cooler out, it falls right out. Then they will put two plugs into the wholes. Or they might have a tank there without the wholes they can put on and trade you your tank. I have the two plugs in mine.

They charged me $60.00 for everything.
