I have a really nice Precision lock-up converter that came off my 4L60E. I know it will work with a 4L80 trans, but I was thinking of going with a 6L80 or TCI 6x (basicly a 6L80) for my next build and was wondering if I could keep this stall with it or if I would have to get a different one?

The Precision website says it fits all 4L60E, 4L80E, 700R4, etc. so I thought it would work on at least the 6x.

The 4L60 will only fit a 4L60/65/70 trans, not the 4L80 or the 6L80. They both are different. The TCI 6 Speed is a modified 4L80 as mentioned. I would assume it uses the OE style 4L80 splines, but have not seen it in person. So basically you will need a new converter either way, sorry.

I hope your assumption is correct. You sold me converter for a TCI 6X...LOL
Car's not running yet, but your choice of splines and converter pads to bell housing distance seems to be correct...

Yea stalls are interchangeable, th200's th350's th400's 700's 200-4R's 6L80's 4L80E's 6L90's C4's C6's 727's, you can use the same stall in all of them.
You just need to get a converter made to mechanically fit the stall to each transmission.

You're good to go. The 6X does use the standard 4L80E torque converter, even if you opted for the billet input shaft, it accepts the standard 4L80E converter as well.

I went to Precision's website and looked at the link you provided. I can see how you can get that the 4L60E and 4L80E transmissions use the same converter, but that isn't the case. As a matter of fact, not all 4L60E transmissions use the same converter. The 1993-1997 4L60E transmissions use a converter that will fit an 84 1/2 to 1993 700R4. The 1998 up 4L60E transmissions that were attached to the LS based engines take a different converter yet. None of these converters are compatible with the 4L80E or the 6L80E transmissions.
The Precision website says it fits all 4L60E, 4L80E, 700R4, etc. so I thought it would work on at least the 6x.
