I would say quit rebuilding it and get a new transmission.I recently took my 99' suburban in because of the transmisison slipping from 2nd to 3rd. The dealership said it would cost more to rebuild it rather than getting a new one.
After you had it rebuilt 3 times I think it's safe to say, that you need a brand spanking new one.

you are burning the clutches in the input drum. not enough line pressure. on the other hand, you can have too much line pressure and blow the retainer clip completely out like i just did again.

A 200-4R is a GM automatic transmission with overdrive, they are stronger than a 4L60E and much more expensive. IF you want to keep the O/D function they are probably your best bet. If you can live without O/D then the TH400 is the strongest and cheaper option. There are several good shops that build good 200-4R's. Century Transmissions in Houston is good. In my personal opinion Rossler builds the best 4L60E you can buy but they aren't cheap. FLP also builds a good 4L60E. I'm on my third 4L60 and it will be the last, next time around I will get a built TH400.
