Here's the yukon, plumbed in 8:
Thanks. Did the cooler come with any mounting hardware or did you fab something up? I would rather not use the through the radiator things that I am using now.

You ever look at the yukon's trans temp? And was 20 ft enough?

If you look closely at the pic, you can see the flat aluminum bar i used to mount it, one bar across the bottom, two short pieces angled at the top, all bolted into the existing support. Trans runs 150 is on average, but will get to 180-200 during towing or hot days then i click the fan on.

Nothing wrong with that but the metal line is god awful. Go with the black nylon outside. So much easier to assemble with no bloodshed.

Thanks. I wish B&M made a bigger cooler. My converter is unlocked a lot of the way to work. I didn't monitor the temps this summer, probably didn't want to know. I'm not sure that one cooler that size would be enough. I've looked at others in teh past and was set on a Tru Cool Max with a 40,000lb rating but they either come with hose barbs or compression fittings. I want to do this once more and do it RIGHT and never worry about it again. I'm thinking that if I get a trans gauge and monitor the temps I can see if more capacity is needed and throw two coolers on, maybe one with a thermal bypass. I don't think it would be too difficult.

When you throw the fan on what happens to temps? Does it matter on the highway, I'd imagine not.

Nah on the hwy no change, in slow speed it will stop it from climbing and if i get to a point where im stopped it will help it cool down quicker. Towing with a 3200 converter in the hot humid south is a challenge in that respect.

After poking around for a bit I ended up going with this guy.....

Amazon Amazon

The whole project definitely costed more than I wanted it to, but the idea is that I will not only never need to do this again, but never be worried again either. The bottom brackets arent the prettiest in the world but I was struggling with light and cold at the end of a long day. I also had to do some minor trimming to the inside of my grill, but nothing that you can see once it's installed again. (Not letting me posts pics right now, annoying)

I Unfortunately the fan is setup right now to pull air through the cooler rather than push it through. I don't know if this can be reversed or if I am going to have to reverse my wires. I am going to just pull the fuse and see how it performs commuting to and from work tomorrow. My guess is that, despite having huuuuge cooling capabilities, the fact that it is shrouded is going to make it fairly ineffective without the fan. Especially because my grill runs right in front and middle of the cooler. The unit comes with a thermostatic AN fitting for the fan and I installed a fitting right next to it with a 1/8npt coming out of the side so I can install a trans temp gauge rather than having to rely on Torque app. The rest of that is a project for a different day.

I went with 6an. The fittings that come with the kit to adapt to an fittings were 6 so I jest went with that.
