Default Instructions on adjusting my TV Cable please!!

Ok so i bought a 93 Z28 and the cars shifts are way off, including shifting at 3,500 at wide open throttle and i believe the TV cable is keeping from full throttle which could be causing this. The car wont kick down when you floor it no matter what you do.

I have found the TV Cable and the release button for slack and adjusting just lost on how too adjust this properly.

Anyone with experience on this please chime in!

I have read about having someone hold the gas WOT, and adjust from there, but how far does the plastic tab around the cable in front of the release button need too be sticking in or out? I am lost

Thanks!

Press and hold the release button and put the pedal to the floor, while the pedal is to the floor you release the button so it grabs the cable. Might need two people for this one. This should get you really close. It should only need very slight adjustments for personal preference after that.

It takes a few tries to get it right because there is no magical setting. Start by marking the cable at the release and then moving it out 1/4". Try it with a moderate throttle 1/4 to 1/3 pedal letting it shift to 2 & 3. Mark the cable move another 1/4". try it again. Repeat until the trans doesn't want to shift to 2 or 3 and then move it back in 1/16" to 1/8". When it shifts normal after moving it in then try a WOT shift. The shift points will hopefully be around 5200- 5400 rpm or more. After that shift points are raised by the governor on the left side of the trans. That's the way I do it and it works for me. I'm still on the original '93 trans and have 6 years on my Yank SS 3600 and Transgo kit that I installed.

Adjust it so the cable is at full pull at wot. Usually release the button so the spring forces the cable housing back, then hold the throttle at wot and put the cable release back in the locked position. And thats it, check to make sure the cable is tight at wot.

I havent heard the "clicks" i thought i would. It still isnt shifting at WOT past 3,500 Rpms? I wonder if the TV Cable is busted or not hooked up right at the tranny? Where exactly does it go in on the tranny? Also does anyone know on how too change shift rpms on the govenor? I have heard changing gear?

I just want the car too shift like it should and actually run a WOT! feels like a 6 cylinder sometimes

The cable needs fixed first. Disconnect it from the throttle body and pull on it. It should spring back. If it does then adjust it like i said, if it doesn't it may be broken or unhooked from the tranny on the pass side. Without proper operation, you will smoke the trans.
