Default After TC install questions thread

Im sure Im not the only one who experiences weird things after they install a TC. So im making this so I can put all my (after stall install) question in one thread instead of endless separate threads.
Heres the questions so far...

1st question has hopfully been answered. For p0300 - Random Misfire,
p0502 - Vehicle Speed Sensor Low Input the fix is tuning I hope.

2nd is when I go into 4th at about 40mph I get a vibration. When I give it a little more throttle the vibe gets louder. What could this be is it typical?

3rd is when I put the car in reverse, give it a little throttle to back up and let off the throttle really quick the idle seems to fluctuate up and down a little. Does this sound normal?

Im hoping all this will be fixed after tuning for the TC.

Yes, all of this is in the tune. The lock up needs to be raised to about 50 MPH, Random Misfire is B.S., and idle fluctuation is justifiable because the airflow calculations per your converter have not been reset.

The engine rpm spins up faster vs. mph with the smaller, lighter, looser converter. The computer senses something is wrong, but cannot pinpoint a system malfunction. So it throws a code. Another similar one is VSS code you mention ... my 3000 converter didn't trip it, but the 3600 would and it would throw the tranny into limp mode (not good for ET's). I started a thread about it way back when ... let me see if I can find it ...

Here's that thread describing what happened to me. https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...nce-track.html Get that DTC tuned out before you go to the track. I had a a lot of confusion because of bad advice ("replace the VSsensor"). I had to get rid of P0300, P0502 and I believe P0720 and 751 for that converter to work with my car. You can find the codes and their functions listed in this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...lush-more.html

I came across that thread when searching but didnt think it had anything to do with me so I didnt read it lol.
Through my search I too saw alot of "replace the vs sensor" So thought maybe I had to replace it but guess not now...hopfully.
My car isnt acting like yours did but there are symtoms that I said before.
So all you had to do was tune for the converter better?

A correct tune will get rid of all your problems. Also messing with cruising shiftpoints ect makes a big difference.

2 more questions.
1 - does the factory trans sensor (read from computer) read higher than an aftermarket pan mounted sensor? If so how much higher?

2 - It was 45f out today and trans temp reported on my aeroforce gauge (read off computer) almost touched 165f after romping on it on the highway. Got off the highway and temp dropped almost right away to 156f. Does this seem to be to hot for only 45f weather? Think it will be running to hot in summer 80f-90f?

As long as you have a good after market cooler you should be fine. It gets super hot here in the summer mine was fine. I have only touched 200 once and that was after hot lapping bout 3 times at the track.

I was told as long as your trans temps do not get higher than your engine temps you will be fine.

I had some of the same problems with my car before it was retuned.

But for someone who hasnt had their fans to come on sooner than stock settings?! Low speed fans come on at 226f so theres no way I can agree its ok for trans temp to get that high.
I wish I knew how much hotter the stock sensor reads vs aftermarket so I can compair everyone elses readings with mine while taking into consideration the different readings stock vs aftermarket in pan.
Ill have to wait and see how hot it gets with this cooler in a few months
