Stock tranny and a PT4400 TC
I have a PT4400 Yank sitting in my room waiting to get installed. The thing is though with the 373's, bolt ons, and soon a cam, will the stock tranny hold up with this convertor. If not what tranny should i now go with that could hold this convertor and pull low 11's to high 10s without breaking?
Or should i get rid of the convertor and go for a TH350/400? Thanks for the help.

I have a PT4200 in my room too and I was told if I didn't have problems with the stock trans and no shavings in the fluid to go ahead and run it. If the trans dumps, then replace it with a better one. Don't "fix" it until it's broken.

I had a PT4000 sitting in my room for a while. I installed it into my stock tranny that had about 26K miles on it and less than 300 miles later I've ordered a new tranny. Hope you have better luck than I do. I guess it just depends on tranny temp., drivers right foot, and a little luck to go with it. Good luck.

Yeah i have a B&M tranny cooler in already, just don't want to blow up the tranny. I learned that the TH350/400 are not interchangeable with the yank pt4400!! So it's no use putting this in and then having my tranny blow up just to rebuild it over and over again. Any body know of a tranny which will work with a pt4400 Yank Convertor.

I've got over 200 passes, mostly 11.0-11.1 on my stock 4L60E and TP4400, probably 50+ 10 sec. passes also. Maybe I've been lucky, but it's done well for me. I'm swapping to a TH350 setup so the complete 4L60E and TP4400 will be up for sale soon. It's still running strong!

mine is fine for now and its had 5 difference converters through it....3200, 3600, 4200 (twice), and now a 4400. I will start to worry about it more when the car makes more power. If the install is done correctly, you keep an eye on your fluid, run a trans cooler and trans temp gauge you should be fine.

mine was fine with the yank 3500 then i put in a new motor and heads along with the pt 4400 and the same time and now the tranny is slipping on the 2-3 shift, i dont know what to make of that, and it was a brand new 4400 too... but im getting it rebuilt anyway so i can make some passes

unfortunately i'm planning on getting a good amount of work done now too. The new TR T-rex cam as well as absolute heads. SO i know that the tranny will end up knocking out on me plus i've heard great things about the Th350 so i've decided to sell this.
