Default Truck transmission in F-Body?

Hey guys,

I searched and couldnt find much on the subject, but will a truck transmission work in an F-body? I'm looking at picking up a 2002 Camaro that needs a transmission (auto). I can't find one for a Camaro, so i thought about using one from a truck.

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks,

Derek

If it is a similar year truck trans it should work fine. You will just need to swap the tail housing from your camaro trans over to the truck trans.

So, all of the electrical plugs should hook up no problem?

All the plugs are the same. If the trans has a PRNDL switch the shifter shaft will need to be changed. But other than that and the tail housing you shouldn't have any other issues.

The 80 requires a little massaging of the tunnel.

GM transmissions are a 3 peice design with a bell housing, tail housing and center section.

The bell and center interchange from the trucks to F-Bodies. The tail shaft does not.
