Default new rpm trans?

I bought a rpm level 5 and have a yank pt4000. I installed everything today and took it for alittle drive. The car was supposely had a built trans in it before but lost 3-4 clutches after just 600 miles. Anyhow just crusing and half throttle on the 1-2 shift its a good nice firm shift but on the 2-3 and 3-4 I can hardly feel it shift. I havent went WOT yet and my question is does the fluild pressure need to be adjusted or is this normal with a big loose converter? Never had a good built trans like this so I was just wondering how these shifts.

Also this might be another thread but with the old trans it seemed like it shifted early too around 6K. It has a small cam and some hand ported heads. I just think it would do better if I was to raise the shift points.

sort of confused, was the tranny NEW when u bought it? or this was advirtised in the sale of the car? I dont have a RPM trans but my 60E is pretty built and has a trans go HD2, same converter as yours, and has very mild shifts after the 1-2..unless racing, in drive/3, their firm but it still doesnt chirp the tires..
And yes depending on ur set up, u may want to up the shift points etc..my .02

Lines pressures will need to be tweaked in the tune. Stock trans tend to need more pressure to feel the shifts. A properly built trans will deliver frame shaking shifts with the same upped pressures. Thats not good for your new tranny. But generally, with a big converter, you aren't going to feel the shifts, especially at light throttle.

when my level 5 was installed, my pcm def needed a retune as it was setup for the stock trans. a properly tuned rpm level 5 is fricken awesome. i love it to the death and still think its the best mod on the t/a.

I bought the car with all the mods done to it. Guy I bought it from did all the tuning himself. He had a built trans in it but I guess who ever done it didnt do it right. So I assume he tuned it for the trans. I guess I need to find someone to look into the tune before I go wot.

Oh yea RPM ask what all is done to your car and around hp range. They build to your specs.

Hey Josh, did you make sure to flush your cooler lines really well befor installing the new trans? That big converter will "soak up" a lot of the low RPM shift firmness. Does it still sound like it shifts fast or does is slide into the next gear?

Man to be honest with you I havent drove it that much and just been crusing it kinda makes me nervous to go wot. Yes I flushed the cooler lines out too. Ive been keep a check on the fluid level also. Once i got it off the lift and drove it down the road it did seem like when it shifted the 2-3 shift it slide into gear but only did it that one time. Rest so far have been fast clean shifts.

If the fluid level is good take it out and do some WOT shifts with it. If it feels good WOT then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If not don't worry about it. We will take care of you.

Ok Jeremy, just got back from some wot runs. I made about 3 or 4 runs. The very first one I forgot about the dang trac button but on the 2-3 shift it slide into gear. After that the rest of the runs seemed like it shifted fine. I did notice that on the 1-2 shift the car would shift at 6K and on the 2-3 it would shift at around 6500. I wonder why it was tuned like that? Im gonna drive it to work in the morning but dang its 100 degrees here
