On a 4L60E, they are placed one on top of the other or "two tall." The bottom line is the "feed line" which runs out of the transmission into the factory in-tank cooler inside the radiator. The feed line connects to the radiator at the bottom of the passenger's side of the radiator. The top line is the "return line" which runs transmission fluid back to the transmission from the factory in-tank radiator cooler. The return line begins at the top of the radiator on the passenger side, and runs back to the transmission.

Transmission->Feed line->Radiator(stock cooler)->ext, cooler->Return Line->Transmission
best info I have

Whatever you do....don't lay it up against the condensor or radiator. Mount it like mine. Very easy and you won't have the hot air coming right off the cooler and going into the condensor or radiator. Have the ram air from the air dam MIX with that hot air.

I had mine mounted on the condensor and worked great. Then I deleted my a/c and now its on the radiator and works the same.No problems with it touching but im not in the south though. It stays a little cooler up here in New England.

This way works great ,I recently changed the cooler position a little so it was mounted flat to the road basically so the air that was forced up had to go thru the cooler fins not around the entire cooler,My 4L80E trans temps are 133 unlocked and 127 locked both at 60 MPH on an 81 degree day.

Wow that looks great, thank you sir for the pics! Was it a lot of work to take off the cooling fans to get the coolers mounted? You did use those included tabs things that go through the rad fins correct?

Edit: You have it attached directly to the coolant rad? Did you delete your A/C system? Would it be a lot more difficult to install if mounting it to the A/C rad?

I deleted my AC in my car, so I dont have the condensor in front of the radiator,, I put my cooler against the radiator, If GM can put a condensor thats the same size in front of the radiator then a tranny cooler should be fine.
Just remember You can face the connectors on the cooler to the side, Or facing up, but dont face them down,, there is a chance you could get an air pocket in the cooler, THATS what the tech guy at B&M told me.

Taking off the cooling fans is really easy, as there's not a ton of stuff in the way of them. Yes, I used the included zip ties and rubber isolators. Yep, A/C is gone. You'll have about .75" less of a gap between your a/c evaporator and the diagonal radiator/hood latch supports, but I think you'll be fine. I'll try to get a picture from under the car tonight when I'm changing my oil.

As you can see , my tranny cooler is mounted " Dope Style ". I've had mine mounted like this for about 4 yrs now without any issues. I use to have mine mounted on my condensor awhile back. Since I added a FTRA Kit 4 yrs ago , I had to move it .

Great pics guys, gives me some inspiration to get a tranny and p/s cooler installed on my car by me.

Question though, In this pic are the units mounted to the A/C rad or the coolant rad? Thanks again guys!
