Either way,too late now. Now I'm wondering if the motor was overspun and ate up some main bearings.
of course the lockup wouldn't hold it at WOT you and I both know that a single disk lockup clutch is NOT designed to be locked at WOT

and as for the 110mph I was unaware that it was at 6600 I was told the car only revved to 6100 or so......also why would you even want to rev the car that high espically with 12lbs of boost on a stock 155k mile shortblock?? seems kinda crazy no?? regardless of the size of the cam in the car.....

we will find out what happened soon as it comes apart mike......got a feeling like don said you ate a couple of bearings, it started knocking and then that was it.....

You must forget my car.. Single disk converter locked up perfect to make 580rwhp a ton of times. Car above has a 4cyl lockup disk in it which is why it doesn't hold.

6600rpm is not a problem. You obviously didn't come to the last dyno day to see Sams turbo car with a ton of miles making 660tq/630hp through the 4l80. Or the 2 Avalanches that run 16-18lbs on there stock blocks revving to 6800rpm. It can take it BUT it can not take a hammering on the rev limiter which will easilly walk the caps and eat main bearings causing low oil pressure..

Sometimes engine just fail.

i was specifically told by more than a couple of converter companies that a single disk lockup cluts was not designed for WOT operation......regardless.......

and i was at the last dyno day..........and I understand the 16-18lbs of boost in a 5.3L but they do have another .100 on the cylinder walls and less surface area on the piston...........but i dont have to explain that to you.......

like i said you are a experienced shop and i respect that........and as we both know its about the power you make AND the durability of the design........seems like so many guys are good at one but not the other......
