TH400 guys inside...post pics of your center console/shifter
I currently have a t-56 car. i'm looking to go with a th400. can I re-use my center console? can i keep the shifter boot and all? i'd like it clean and stock apearing. i dont want to hack up the console. i've seen some 4l60e cars that put a th400 and cut the console up pretty bad.
post pics of how your console and shifter looks. help me decide how i want to do this.

You can use a b&m ratchet shifter and sew the boot around it, plus it will fit in stock location. When i changed to a hurst pistol grip, I just changed the top cover over to an auto style and trimmed it to fit. I'll post up some pics when I get home if you'd like. I'd like to do the no console myself

That was my goal I've got the reverse lockout under the leather boot currently and you can't see it's there. Was going to get a 6-speed **** for the top but decided (well not really) several other routes. . . IF I could get a 6-speed shift **** with a button on the side, I would SO be jumping on it!

Here's what I got....
I did a TH400 swap on an Auto car. It was in a 98 Trans Am.
I have a few pictures, But It's also not finished yet. We wanna do something creative with the part that lights up. We removed all the letters (prnd321), and we wanna put a colored screen in there with a logo.
Also, We wanna put a shifter boot in there, where the shifter comes out of the console to hide the shifter... But we haven't got that far with it yet.
Here's what we have now!
And I also did the T56 to 4L60E swap in my car. I used a factory A4 Shifter from my buddies 98 Trans Am. Heres a few pics of it. I retained the 6 speed console, and it can still pull all the way down to 1st gear and go all the way up into park.

Here are some pics of the Plate I made. I used a tow away zone sign I had laying around.
The sign was about 3/16" thick. Mild Steel. And when Bolted down, and glued into place with RTV, It wouldn't even budge with a hammer, it's so solidly mounted.
I also wanted to use the factory holes that mount the 6 speed shifter boot, So I had my gf hold the plate in place as i drilled the holes from the bottom of the car. Then used bolts with washers, and 2 nuts on the bottom side to hold the plate in place, and to keep them from ever backing off, I put rtv on the 2 nuts and threds also.
Then coated EVERYTHING around the hole and plate with RTV to waterproof the car from rust or any road debries, or exhaust fumes.
I also took the same sign and cut a piece just big enough to cover the hole for the master cylinder for the T56, and used push-pin style fasteners to hold it in place so IF I ever wanted to go back to a 6 speed, My master would just bolt right back in with no issues. And the same with the factory T56 shifter boot, and etc. The car is completely reversable. Only mod I would have to do is drill the holes larger in the rubber boot for the shifter, and use bolts to hold it in place.
Heres some pics for you to kinda go off of....
