help!vigilante converter and gears installed
I installed a 3600 stall triple disk converter and i changed my spool with 342 gears to a eaton posi with 410's. After the car was driven for 40 minutes I got on it a little to see if the converter was working properly. It would start slow then it really kicked in. Like i got shot out of a cannon. I then drove it easy to work and it stalled in the parking lot as i put it in reverse. Then the car would start up then die immediately. i checked under the car and there is no fluid leaking and the trany fluid is full. Any idea if its the converter or the old tune. The car was tuned on a 3200 fuddle stall that was slipping and not locking properly and 342 gears. hens why i installed a 3600 vig triple disk. I was going to get the car tuned tomorrow. Any ideas what would cause this? Thanks in advance.

I'm going to go with the tune on the dying in reverse. Its not uncommon to see this complaint when a smaller diameter/lighter converter has been installed in a vehicle. Get your tune adjusted to increase your idle in reverse and this problem will be solved.

The absolute first place to start is to get a scanner or tuning software on the car and ask the PCM what's going on. It could be in the tune just like Vince said. It could have adapted the fuel tables to the point where it is just too lean to start for example. It could have a VATS issue. It could have a locked up torque converter, it could have a problem with the torque converter solenoid. The previous converter clutch could have put enough debris in the tranny to cause issues....
My point is we need more information on this one guys. If the OP can get us some detailed info on what the PCM is reporting, then we can help steer him in the right direction. Until then, it's all just speculation.

Turns out the tq converter bolts were reused by my mechanic and not the black tq bolts that cam in the box. so the bolts backed out and there was no loctite on the bolts. There was also a fried starter wire. So tunetime performance found the problems and fixed them. I should have had them do it in the first place. The car is running and will be dyno tuned tomorrow. Thanks for all of the help guys.
