Default Few pics of my trans rebuild

Here are pics of my trans.and the Zpac.I still have to install it and test. The drum was reused after a clean up.Also pic of stock on left and Beast shell on right. The ZPac holds 20% more torque than stock, has increased heat resistance and uses 14 single sided friction discs.I hope it works ,let you all know how it goes.I have to wait a week for my headers to get back from recoating.

Are you doing the rebuild yourself?

How difficult? Or is it pretty straightforward as long as you pay attention to detail...

Hi-Energy for the 1-2,ZPak/3-4.My trans had only 11,000 miles but probably well over 500 1/4 mile passes. The stock 1-2 clutches were in very good shape but the 3-4 were well worn along with the band.

The trans is being rebuilt by a pro who has done quite a few.Being that the stock trans lasted as long as it did he did basic upgrades, left the valve body alone, clutches, inspect servo reseal, opened and checked the pump, new bands, installed the Beast cage and pressure tested what was needed.I probably left out a few things but I am not a trans expert.Once it's in I will let you know how it works.

Offaxis bought a used 55,000 mile 98 trans and had the same rebuild as mine.He has 2,200 HARD miles on it and so far it's A OK.BTW-this is trans number 12 for him,LOL.He is a trans terminator.

There's a forward clutch pack, reverse input clutch pack, low/reverse clutch pack, high gear clutch pack (3/4), one band (2/4), low roller clutch, forward sprag clutch, and an overrun clutch (provides engine braking)

Ok...and this just proves what I already knew- I don't know a damn thing about automatics...

So basically...with that all in mind- does that mean racing in "3" or "D" (no overdrive/4) is easier on the trans...since it will never make a 3-4 shift... (especially since 3-4 seems to be pretty weak)

3/D is better for a couple reasons -- won't upshift to 4th, although that shouldn't happen anyway... Unless you're running 4.56 gears with 26 inch tires or something But, it also applies the overrun clutch, which helps to take a little of the stress off the low roller clutch.

I think you need to look into a better servo, your drum looks like its taken a beating try to grab 2nd. Consider a harder anchor pin and wide band along with some mods to get more apply in the servo for better gripping on the drum.
