Default Stall Heat

Will there be a lot of difference between a 3500-4000 stall temp?Ive just hurt my 4l60e and going in for a rebuild and doing a stall at the same time.So will the bigger stall produce a lot more heat?i have 3.9 rear.

It will produce more heat, but with a good cooler it will not be a problem. Typically with a good size cooler you will run cooler, even with a 4000ish stall.

Nope plenty people run big stalls I had a 3400 and now I have a 4000 stall both were ran with my 30k gvw hayden trans cooler and I saw no difference in temps acording to my gauge so just get a good cooler, i also have a deep pan not sure how much it helps!!!

correct me if Im wrong but doesn't converter efficiency play a role with how much heat they build. Ie a poor efficient 2800 stall will create more heat then a efficient 3600 stall

My circle D 5c stall (42-4400) runs about 155 degrees in my trans cruising around town. A big cooler solves any potential heat issues.

Is it worth while running a fan on the cooler with a thermatic temp switch and set it at 185 degrees or even wire it into the factory fans so when they turn on it turns the fan on for the trans cooler?just a thought

Efficiency is the big deal, and higher stall speeds tend
to be less efficient. But there's a lot of room between
best and worst, a poor 3500 could throw more heat
than a nicely efficient 4000.

I had built up a cooler with thermostats and muffin fans
but since I run full time fans anyway, the "dope style"
larger Hayden is doing fine and I never swapped. I used
a Selco thermostat I got from Digi-Key, they have them
in 5C increments.

You don't want to overcool because it inhibits converter
lockup. Usually not a problem down here but the other
week it was near freezing and noticeable for several miles.
