Default What stalls / converters to avoid with an 02?

What converters and stalls start giving problems with 02s in terms of torque management?

As long as no one says Yank SS3800 i'll be a happy camper.

Now all I have to do is raise enough money to install the damn thing

I've heard after a certain stall torque management starts throwing you some codes.

The only converter that I recall that had issues was the ST3500, with a 2.5 STR. Yank discontinued those and replaced them with the more efficient Super Stock line. As of now, no converter has had any issues being used on F-bodys upto 2002.

Torque Management can be an issue with any converter you buy. I've seen one or two cars have TM type problems with the stock converter..

Best bet, choose the converter that fits your goals. If TM starts to be an issue. Get the car tuned. My car went into the 11.8's before the TM got really horrible..

you probably want a tune anyways, to mangle your shift points etc. the less tq mgmt features you had the harder its going to be on the tranny ya know.

lesser of two evils, blown tranny vs less 1/4 , gotta balance the costs

Yeah, don't ask how to avoid it, even a relatively mild one
with the stock tune is kinda ugly. Not broke, just ugly. I
removed my Predator tune the other day and, man, does
TM suck with even my little ol' TCI 3000. You know why?
It's not just the TM dropping your spark advance for the
duration of the shift cycle, but the shift cycle in the stock
program has built-in 0.3 seconds of commanded delay. On
the last Predator load it failed to turn off TM but I had the
shift times knocked down to minimum so it was just a
momentary drop-out and I tolerated it. But with stock
shift settings, half-second bog on every part-throttle shift.
I never drove it with stock tuning after the converter so
didn't realize what everybody beefs about.

Give in, Luke. Give in to the dark side of the Force. Get
yourself tuning capability.

But it's just so expensive Darth And people in Colorado are totally retarded when it comes to tuning.
