I've had a repeat problem with one of there stalls on two different transmissions . To be honest they are good guys but I'm just going to get another vigilante as I'm 700 bucks into that converter now (450 verter+250 repair from first failure) and both times burned up the converter clutch within two weeks
First time was with my original trans that I rebuilt the 2nd time was with a pro rebuilt unit..get what you pay for.

Agreed. I know JD very well, and he really knows what he's doing, VERY knowledgeable guy. I've been to their shop many times and will be down there either tomorrow or Friday, and JD personally is a friend of mine and has taught me most of what I know about converters, buy opening them up and explaining the function of every single component, and comparing it to similar other products, i.e. furnace brazed fins vs. tig welded fins, things like that.
They build a bad *** converter, and I fully plan on using them for my 80e build later this year

all this is good stuff.it is nice to know feedback from both sides of the fence.seems like if the clutch was burnt up,it was locking up when it wasnt supposed to which indicates a bad tranny tune.am i right?

I know what PTCT uses for clutch material and it's tough, but even the cheapest material on the market would last more than 2 weeks of abuse unless there was a outside issue causing failure.
I would think the transmission had some type of apply problem causing failure. Possibly a cooler flow issue.
There really isn't much to a converter clutch to fail or cause failure. There's typically only a sealing ring that can fail or the clutch material itself delaminating, or maybe not enough clearance and having clutch drag. Anything else would be a trans related issue.
