Default 6L80 or 90??

Can anyone tell me if my trans is a 6L80 or 6L90? I took a pic of the code on the trans but I'm having trouble finding out how to decode it? I can't get to the trans to further inspect for another few days.

These have been rumored to hold close to 1000hp in stock form on a few cars at a local dyno shop. How much $ did it cost you and how many miles are on it?

Those are definitely just rumors James, you wouldn't believe how many calls I've gotten about built 6L80Es blowing up around that power level or less.

In stock form it all depends on the tuner and the experience they have with them. Ive seen 1,000 to the tire multiple times bone stock. They usually don't last very long tho. Built right a 90 would hold well.

Supposedly the 6l90e>6l80e by far. My info was from the owner of one of the most reputable dyno shops in this part of the country. The owner has two of the factory supercharged ctsv's, one running 9's and the other in the 10's. The 6l80e usually go south around 500-600rwhp so I have been told.

Quick Reply: 6L80 or 90??
