got my SSF3500 in.. have a question..
i had my converter installed today but the tranny cooler i picked out was way to big and they couldnt find a spot for it... so i was wondering will i be ok driving it for 2 days with no cooler while i wait for my B&M 24000 GVW cooler to get here?
to be on the safe side i wouldnt go joyriding around...if it were me i would drive it to the garage and back and thats it. you should be ok for two days though.... well how do you like the converter??????? any tuning done yet?
oh i love the converter.. its just like everyone said night & day difference.. no tuning on it yet.. but i dont know if its even needed i did 1 quick 0-110mph run and it shifted where it needed to and i didnt feel anything like torque management... so maybe i got lucky and wont need any tuning with it..
Yeah, I would take it VERY easy without that cooler. Mainly because the first 100 or so miles are when the lock up clutch is getting broken in, so thats where most of the friction is goin on.

Huh? You can lockup/unlock the verter 50 times in 5 miles of driving. thats about all it needs.
The verter generates heat when you are slipping (below lockup) but not alot. the radiator can handle up to lockup.
2. burnouts (BIG TIME increase in temps) specially the brake stand kind
3. WOT runs (ie 1/4 mile), but again the RADIATOR is still cooling the trans fluids at high speed so it wont hurt.
Where it will hurt is specifically, staging, burnouts, drag racing where you have NO COOLING.
Trust me, It was like almost 80 and my ECT and TRANS fluid was at 225 with that cooler. I am thinking a bigger pan, then said, well crap, in staging and all you are pretty much not going to cool down THAT MUCH fluid that quickly.
so i got a fan override switch and will see how much it helps or doesn't. I might even add a pusher fan to the cooler, but if the fluid isn't moving? It's not going to cool much, if it is moving, its probably not gonna cool much.
kinda lose lose scenario. auto's have a definite disadvantage at hot weather drag racing than manuals it appears.
225 trans fluid temps are well beyond non-synthetic fluid range of safety imo;
