getting my first LS1 fbody this weekend

and the 4l60e is junk. would it be more cost effective to get a good low mileage used one or to rebuild mine?

I feel it is better to have one built by a good company rather than junkyard ones. You never really know how well they will hold up. You could end up buying more than one. Just spend the money and have it done right the first time. Just my opinion.

If yours is toast go buy a built one from flt or rpm.
If money is a issus then yea get a low mile used one.
Mine has 115k with lots of racing and track passes. Its still holding up.

yep thanks, I'm pretty excited about it. I've wanted one for as long as i can remember.

And money is definitely an issue, thats the problem. I wont be able to have one built by a shop. I would be the one rebuilding it if thats the route I decide to go. I'm only gonna have about $500 to spend on one.

I think a stock used one with lower miles or is in good working condition would suffice. Just keep an eye out and if possible do a stall, if not, oh well maybe later.

Ps. I recommend a stall cuz if not I'll be walking ya!! :p Haha glad you're getting the car, maybe I'll get to work on it some w/ ya

I just sold a Mildly built 60E with 3,000 miles on it for $700. It wasn't an RPM or FLT level anything but it did have good clutches, beast sunshell, wideband, ect in it.

have a decent shop rebuild yours. if you take it out on your own and bring them just a tranny turn around time is a day or 2 depending. unless ur going to mod it for big power, then send it somewhere ppl know by their name.
