what rpm to launch at with yank ss4000
i've only been to the track twice so far and had 5 runs on my first trip and several runs on my second trip, best i could run was a 1.70 60' 7.96 1/8 mile and 10.22 1000' with traction control on, second trip my best run was nearly identical numbers with the traction control off, i'm currently running some 275/40/17 mt et street radials but they're old and i'm thinking i'm not hooking off of the line but i never had time to really play with the launch rpm off the line since i was just gettin into the routine of the burnout and lining up since i've never had a fast car lol. btw this is a 98 c5 with 3.15 gears with full bolt on making 340 hp and 350 tq at the rear. i'm currently installing a nitrous outlet wet kit plan on spraying 100 shot, maybe a 125 or possibly 150 at the most once i get acclaimated to spraying and feel like everything is dialed in safe enough. besides me getting some nice sticky tires on the rear what can i do to bring my 60' times down? thanks

What rpm is the car at when you launch it? Getting a good burnout in? I have a circle d 4000 converter and my car leaves much harder if I only stall it up to 2,500 or so and let it flash up on the launch, but all converters are different. Get some good tires and play around with it. You will find the sweet spot

I've played around with the launch very few times considering I've only made a total of possibly 12 pulls and I've done 1000, 1500, 3000 I think I really just need some better tires to hook

Besides better tires like you stated, one thing you might want to look at is a line lock. They help out alot. You can rear bias your brake pressure to the rear a little to help aide in footbraking the car at the line.
When you footbraked to 3000 and launched did it spin bad (With the TCS off aobviously).
Also, if it were my car, I would look at some gears. Maybe 4.10's, but at least a 3.70ish gear or higher(numerically).

I definitely want some 3.73's and I'm looking at one diff right now a guy has but he hasn't gave me a price yet. And as far as spinning its not that bad just not a dead hook and what's the difference between me foot braking and a trans brake?

Start with getting some new tires. You just need to make some passes and figure out what your combo likes. My buddys old H/C SS4000 car liked to be brake stalled as high as it would go. Car went 1.45 60' like that.

I launch at 2000 with a yank 3600 and I am hitting 1.52 60fts. i have full slicks 26.10 and they hook up good. I say launch at around 2000 and get some 3.73 gears, you should be able to get some good 60fts.

Converters can be funny. Some guys say stall as high as possible. I've had more luck with leaving off idle or at a very low rpm......and one reason for this is that I don't get any push and preloading of the suspension. If I foot brake to 3k+, the car doesn't want to squat properly when I leave and often results in poor launch feel and more chance of spinning. Bottom line, personal experience will guide you, try different stuff.

in addition, i'm goin to have my nitrous set up through a tps switch with a msd digital window switch so i'll be spraying more than likely at 3k-6k and the converter is goin to flash up stupid fast so i don't think i want to load the converter anymore than maybe 2k unless its best to spray outta the hole but being that i already have no hook on my tires i can only forsee that as me spinning in the 60 ft lol

+1 for just above idle. I generally leave at just around 1000-1200rpms and I have cut a best of 1.54. I too have a 4000 stall but it is a CircleD.
Gears and a new set of MT's should be next. I make a bit more power than you but outweigh you by about 500lbs.

I usually leave around 2500 which was giving me 1.60
tried 3000 and went 1.59
then tried 33-3500 and went 1.56
have also gone 1.55 with a 2500 launch last year.
ss4000 for me
