Very nice and accurate description.
I absolutely agree that the Sonnax Performance Pack (Shift kit) is a very good and complete kit. While it costs more that the Transgo HD2 kit, it includes many additional parts such as the pinless pistons, servo release check valve, torlon *****, etc. IIRC, it also has the stiffer high-rpm spring for the pump, if the trans is being rebuilt. However, it does not have the high-rpm input drum spring kit like the HD2, but that can be purchased separately and is only useful if the trans is being rebuilt.
I also agree it should be combined with their HD 2-3 shift valve (not included in the kit) and a new separator plate.

Personally I found the 1-2 shift with this kit too soft with a 3600 stall converter; it felt good with a 2400 stall converter, as it would with a stock converter.

Sonnax has clearly taken in the lead in creating many improvement to the 4L60E.

forgot something........

i installed a superior transmission 2-3 spring kit P/N K054.....i found out from my local GM dealer that few if any internal parts are available for the valve body....so any lost.. worn or broken parts inside the VB can only be fixed by buying a rebuilt VB from GM ( or others ) ....a common problem is the breaking of the 2-3 shift spring.....the superior part has a limiter that keeps the spring from being compressed to the point of breaking.....a 2-3 spring is also available from sonnax but it does not have the limiter like superior....
a shout out to transmissionpartsusa.com for excellent prices, fast shipping and EXCELLENT customer service

my super smooth shifting tranny has made my car a real joy to drive again !!! thanks sonnax

after a Loooooong road trip.......i must say the tranny is still smooth as ever and the 1-2 shift is PLENTY firm.....i did use the larger drill sizes in the separator plate for all the the holes needing to be drilled

If you remember the hole sizes, please document what they are.

the large size was .093 and the small was .086 for the choices.........used a .120 for the 3rd clutch because of the checkvalve
