Default Midwest Converters....

well I was researching some converters to buy my g/f to put in her car. just looking to buy a used converter for her because she really doesn't even want one, but I have been looking anyways. after searching i read up on Midwest. what does everyone think of them? she showed me a used Midwest 3000 with a 2.5 STR. is this is pretty dependable/good conveter for a 224 cam? i don't really know much about Midwest.

i want to see everyones feedback on Midwest.

i voted that i "love" mine...but i would say im satisfied...

there have been a few people lately that have lost 20-30rwhp on the dyno unlocked/locked with low rpm stalls (3200's)...

i only paid $350 for mine used...it has the upgraded steel stator that is $100 more

when i was running a 228/230/112lsa cam with stock heads i went 11.8@116 with a 1.78 short time on et streets...not great, not horrible...

the guy before me had a cam only car w/nitrous and cut 1.50 short times with it on a stock suspension except for an air bag...

overall...great for the price...

if you don't get the midwest people seem to like their tci converters...

my only regret is i didn't get something around a 3600-3800 for better n/a short times...i will probably get it restalled

I have used Midwest and was very happy. Close friends are also running them with fgreat results.

FWIW....HPE will consider Midwest as the primary converter of choice if all can be worked out with Midwest. I plan on contacting them today.

I have/had the 3200/2.0. The reason the had is in there b/c I sent it back for a restall up to a 3600/2.2

I never gotten the car dynoed yet so I have no clue how much I was loosing between locked and unlocked. But I am very happy with the TC. For the price and performance I wouldn't have gone with anything else.

I'll agree that they don't seem to put down the 60's but I really think its all in the setup. With the 3200/2.0 the best 60' I cut was a 1.79 on stock suspension and ET streets. I think once I put on my LCA's and relo brackets and with the new stall....I believe that the car is capable of 1.6's.

I have a midwest 3200 that was re stalled to 4000 with 2.5 str
I pulled out a vig 3200 and put the midwest in.
Comparison: the midwest feels tighter - almost stock - than the vig. It does not let the motor rev around town. It did cut 1.73 short time with nittos.
Opinion: a good price and decent product. I want to hit harder so I'm looking into a pt4400

I really like my Midwest too. Like stated above it is pretty tight compared to other similar converters. The only thing I would reccomend is getting the steel stator upgrade right off the bat. My non steel stator held up to a 125 shot of nitrous all last year just fine. I'll be running a TNT 150 shot this year and I'm having second thoughts about not getting the upgrade.

My first stall when the car was stock and driven everyday was a 2800 rpm Midwest converter. Worked real good then, along w/ 3.73 gear, car ran low 13's all day at the track.

I went to Midwest because I wanted a tighter converter for daily driving. My previous Yank 3000 w/str 2.0 overheated several times and put the tranny in limp mode.
So, I got the Midwest 10" converter mounted on a 12" clutch. Fantastic for daily driving.
