Default Vigilante single or triple?

Well, my torque converter is slipping, so Im going to replace it. I am going to buy a Vigilante torque converter. I am looking at the lock up converters, and I see that they have single or triple disc converters. Which one is better for my setup?
3.73 gears in a moser 12 bolt
403 ci LS2, Trickflow 225s, big cam, ~530rwhp on a mustang dyno
95% street, 5% drag racing

Questions:
Who has the best prices on these converters?
Should I get a single disc or triple disc? Why?

Single disk is all you need imo. Triple usually suggested if you're disenganging lockup at speed I believe, at least I'm pretty sure that is a benefit, but on the street you wouldn't need to do that.

Triple disk IIRC run approx $300-$400 more than single disk counterparts. Most manufacturers will all be about the same price. Retail, my custom billet FTI single was $700, Yank billet single was $750, Circle D is in the same neighborhood. Never looked at Vig.

Thanks. I was hoping I would only need the single disc. The single disc vig is $800 from speed inc and has a 5 year unconditional warranty. Vigilante is what my tuner prefers, and he hasnt steered me wrong yet.

Triple is for lockup at wot. If big power is in your future and you want to lock up at wot then get one. Being able to lock the converter eliminates slippage and will help mph.

Cam72aro, What would you consider big power? Im not 100% on my future plans, but it will be under 800 rwhp.

It's not just big power that benefits from a locked up converter.

Even a 400hp engine will benefit from a more efficient locked up converter at WOT.

If the converter is doing it's job correctly there would be little benefit of locking at WOT. Many have reported little to no gains in the with locked vs. unlocked. It's also fairly hard on the tranny. For mostly street use I'd go with a single disk, it'll save some weight and cost as well.

Also, give the experts a call, like Yank or Chris at Circle D. They know more about converters than anyone here.

Really locking the converter with 500hp or more power IMO needs to have a multi disk. If you aren't in the throttle and cruising then locking a single is fine. I have mine unlocking when I go above 50% or so throttle. I have a lot of power and it works well, but would be nice to have a triple disk.
