Got a complete drop out from a 06 SSR to install in my 98 Z28. I understand the 65 is stronger than the 60. Can I use the 65 tranny? Will my 98 PCM and wiring connect to it without issues? Thanks!

In short Yes.
A 4L60E and 4L65E are externally and electrically identical.
However the year of the trans will matter.
An 06 likely has ISS (Input Speed Sensor), but your '98 will still have the same trans connector, just without looking at the two ISS pins. Your '98 PCM would ignore it anyway.
Around '08 the 4L60E/4L65E received an incompatible change which prevents such late-model transmissions from working with any earlier PCM.

Thank you both.
I have a BMR tq arm relocation bracket so is it safe to assume I dont need to swap over the tail shafts?
My OEM tranny has 125k, the SSR has 40k. Seems a no brainer to use the newer lower mileage tranny if its a direct swap in since I have it right?

OK guys I'm actually in the process of my swap hit a little bump though.
The 65E appears to have some electronic module provision on the shifter attachment on the trans while my 60 does not.
I removed it but as you can see the rod attachment is longer, Im assuming with how the cable bolts to the trans this will cause an issue with the shifter positioning.
How do I go about changing it?
1st 2 pics is of the 65 with the 2nd pic of me pointing to what I need to swap. Last is of my factory 60

I don't know a clean solution to your problem; perhaps/hopefully there is one.
Worst case, it is not too hard to swap the shifter shaft from your old 4L60e into the 4L65e.

Did you find a solution for this? I am having the same issue.
Is that module necessary? Do you know what it is for?
Have you ran it and did your computer have any issues controlling the 65?
Thank you for any advise you can offer!

bumps a 5 year old thread
asking a question that was already answered up above in the thread...did you even read the thread?
if the 65 isn't an 08+ yes
if it is 08+ no
What's so hard about that to understand?
