Default stuck on the side of the road....(not anymore)

So I had my converter installed a few days ago, and everything has been running fine.

I'm on the freeway going home in sone stop and go traffic because of an overturned truck.

As the traffic cleared, I started to accelerate and it wouldn't upshift from 1st.
I have 1st and reverse, nothing else.

I got off the freeway and pulled into a gas station and check the trans fluid. It's over filled a bit, but that wouldn't cause my trans to take a **** would it?

I have a trans cooler mounted dope style, in series with my radiator trans cooler for my 3600 converter.

My car has only 58k miles.

Wtf is going on?

Right now I'm sitting in a gas station parking lot letting the car cool off before I try to call a tow truck or drive it home.

I had a street tune before.
Phil told me my tune he did on the trans should be good until my dyno tune.

It felt good and locked up at about 50mph, tho today it was acting a bit funny and ut seemed like it was slipping a bit when I wad in lock up.

If the PWM function is still active in the trans tune the stall convertor wont like that and will go into limp mode

Pwm?

My tuner deleted the torque management, adjusted line pressure and whatever else he did.

Had nice firm shifts.

Pulse Width Modulator.. tuner needs to tune that out on bigger stalls because it will cause the TC to chatter

Could it be a pump failure?

I made sure the converter was in all the way, seated properly, but I could be wrong.

Or would that leave me without 1st also?

If you have 1st and reverse nothing major broke - pump, input shafts or converter splines. Get a scanner on it and see what codes are there. Also can pull the pan and check for debris, could be a shift solenoid stuck?

Thanks Chris.

I have no CEL on. Will I still get a code?

If a shift noid is stuck, how do I figure that out, and un-stick it?

I am assuming you are not stuck on the side of the road anymore. No way to really unstick a solenoid and that is just a guess that is your problem. You can still have codes that do not trigger the CEL. Pulling the pan and checking the filter would let you know if anything is failing in the trans or converter.

I'm pretty sure it's 1st.

I will get under it tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Didn't have a chance today.

So today, despite the light rain, I jacked the car up and got under it, looking for loose connectors or anything out of place, and I found nothing.

Being frustrated, I just decided to take the car for a test run, to see if I could notice anything wrong, while not pissed off like the other day, and it drove fine.

WTF is going on here?

When it went out on me the other day, I was stuck in stop and go traffic, and when it cleared up, and I accelerated to try and get to freeway speeds, and lost 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Now it's driving fine. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I have a feeling that if I go on another longer trip, it might do the same thing again.

Any ideas at all guys? I'm stumped.

Next time it happens, pull over, shut the car off and restart it. If the problem goes away immediately after the restart then it's in the tune.

as said, could be tune, also you might have made a better contact underneath moving wires around-prob need to rem the plug on the trans and inspect everything, gotta start somewhere
4L80E's have rev and sec. when they lose power, not sure about 60E's, reason I susp. plug

Ok, I believe it was stuck in 2nd.

Now, when it warms up, and I take off, it seems like it doesn't want to go, so when I accelerate a little harder, then it kicks down to 1st and takes off.

When the trans is cool, it shifts perfectly.

I'm about to pull the pan and check the filter, as soon as it cools off a bit.
