Default What converter for nitrous?

Car is a 02 camaro SS ..
402 ls2
Heads/cam
Th400
12bolt. 3.73 gear
Weighs around 3,000

Will be getting anywhere from a 150-250 shot

Keep getting mixed opinions on all sorts of converters.
.. Yank 3600 or 3800...FTI 4000...Ptc 3600.. etc... What u guys think ?

Car will be street driven, but nothing crazy or far rides.

We would be glad to help out the op. How often will you be spraying and how much exactly? These will be big determining factors on what we spec for you.

Dont think you could go wrong with any of the converter companies you have listed. I'd pick one give em a call and see what they suggest.

that will depend on your shift point and tire size as well as rear end gear and how much you spray

Hey guy's

I have a very similar combo as the ones ya'll are asking about. I am running an FTI 3800 billet triple disc nitrous spec converter in my 4L85E tranny and 12 bolt with 4.11 gears and 28" tall tires. The nitrous spec converter is a little too tight for a optimized motor pass, but is very efficient and drives very well on the street and works very well with the 150 shot so far. On a motor pass I go through the traps around 6350-6400 rpms @ 123-124 mph. On my 150 shot the 4.11s are too much gear, I am on my 6800 rev limiter approx. 75 ft before the finish line in the 1/4 mile. Going through the traps @ 6800 rpms I was trapping 131.6 mph, which is just shy of what I think I need for a high 9 sec pass. I'm gonna put in some 3.73s that I have waiting on the shelf.

I just got finished ordering my next mods, Strange lightweight spool and Richmond Gear install kit. Going with the spool to insure equal traction at both wheels on the juice. The 3.73s should let me make an all out full pass on the juice.

Just got off the phone with Ptc and they are suggesting the 10" street/strip converter with a 3500-4000 stall on nitrous on the trans brake.. Anyone have experience with this certain converter?

You're cutting it close to running out of gear with your setup. I had to drop to 3.70s for the bottle. I run an FTI for my TH400. Great product

Which series FTI converter did you go with and what does it flash to on the juice?

when a converter is too tight what does that really means? Just trying to educate myself a little.

It means that the converter will not stall (flash) as high as what the combination really needs to get a decent launch. In other words, its not stalling up enough rpms to get the engine into the torque peak.
